And I want to move back. Yeah, I'm only an hour away in Lakeway, but I miss the town itself.

Someone find me a job that will pay me 85-100k in the accounting field, will ya?

I know I would go back to San Marcos in a second if I could. You never really realize how great that town is. . . until you are gone.

San Marcos is a nice place to go to college. It's not a good place to raise a family and live in your entire life.

As a general rule, I wouldn't live in any college town unless I just REALLY had to (a job or whatever).

Why do you say that?

I agree that in general I wouldn't want to raise my family in San Marcos, but that is because the schools there are not the best.

Well, that and property value seems pretty low from what I've seen.

Hey Rev,

Don't know if you have government accounting experience, GASB, etc., but Buda is looking for a Finance Director. I don't think it quite gets $85k, but I'm sure it is in the high $70k at a minimum.

Then you can move into my neighborhood and be a 10 minute drive to work in Buda and about a 5 minute drive to downtown San Marcos. :sign:

Rev and Bleed Gold in the same neighborhood... I can't wait to see the For Sale signs start popping up if that occurs!

At this point in my life, I consider SM a regular vacation destination for me. Every year have to make the 4 hr drive 3 or 4 times. Just cant stay away.

After almost 4 years of living in North Austin, I moved back just a few weeks ago. Now I'm just commuting from SM to Parmer Ln/I-35 everyday. So far...totally worth it.

Although I hope its a while until we have another traffic situation like I did this morning, interstate shut down both directions at Onion Creek until about 10am. Morning commute usually takes about an hour...I gave up after about an hour because I was still in Buda.

It seemed like every time I turned around, there was another stop light being put into action, and it was getting really crowded.

Now, we're in a town of 2300, with no stop lights at all. My wife got hired right out of grad school a year ago in August, at 50% more than her classmates were being offered. Some are still looking.

I miss San Marcos even though I'm not too far here in North Austin. It's nice that I get to visit every once in a while though.

I guess commuting between 35-90 minutes a day for 3 1/2 years makes you numb towards the drive, but I don't really consider myself "away" from San Marcos when I'm in Austin/San Antonio. The drive is nothing to me.

I miss it as well. I have lived in all over the US and in several other countries, but my thoughts always go back to San Marcos. The nostalgia is too great. I hope to retire in the area some day. :sign:
