....with the team we have, but the SLC is not too shabby as far as individual talent in basketball this year.

Nichols currently has the 4th leading scorer in the country (Anatoly Bose). SHSU the 33rd (Gilberto Clavell).

McNeese has the 28th leading rebounder (P.J. Alawoya).

Northwestern State the top shot blocker in the nation (William Mosley).

UTSA has the 3rd leading stealer in the nation (no pun intended) with Devin Gibson.

SELA has the 13th best shooter in FG % (David Ndoumba).

No Bobcats were found in the top 40 in the nation for any of those categories.....no surprise though.

...and it doesn't matter.

The SLC has had many statisical leaders over the years but it's pretty difficult to compare individual player stats across teams that have vastly different schedule strengths. I recall when we played Texas the announcers stated that the Bobcats were among the top offensive rebounding teams in the country...then the Longhorns proceeded to out-rebound us by 20.

I remember a year when SWT had the number 1 3pt shooter in the nation. From Isreal...really good shooter...nice guy...but played on an SLC team so nobody noticed.

It's a little easier to produce good individual and team stats when you're playing St Edwards, OLLU, Southwestern Assemblies of God, and Houston Baptist.

Finally, check out the non-conference schedule for Texas Southern. There's a reason why their record was 2-7 when we played them. They kept it close with some decent competition...and weren't as bad as their record indicated.

That wouldn't be back in the mid 80s would it?

Ya, I remember the guy... not his name though... people (chicks) were always getting me confused with him. I'd be on campus, in the quad or dining halls and they'd come up to me and start chatting or tap me on the shoulder because they were calling his name but I didn't answer. I went to several games and yes he could hit from downtown and his shooting form was textbook.

I was thinking 85-86...

Edit: Got me wondering... I think it was Eliezar Gordon?
