I could care less who has the biggest scoreboard. I could read the score on old score board. What I care about is the active area / video screen and it looks like we have a larger active area.

Man, looking at SFA's scoreboard I hope we add some architectural features to ours, two brick columns on either side acting as anchors/supports would be nice and formidable.

The new scoreboard at Javelina Stadium was installed during the 2006 football season. The scoreboard is the largest scoreboard structure in NCAA Division II and was installed and built by Daktronics. The scoreboard is 36 feet wide and 36 feet tall and stands 12 feet off the ground. The video display is over 15 feet tall and 20 feet wide. It features a three camera system and a fully functional production room located under the east side grandstand. It also features a new sound system.

The scoreboard project was funded by the following sponsors; Kleberg Bank, Whataburger, H.E.B, A.E.P. Texas, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think its to cool the electronics and keeps it from over heating.

Brent is correct about the air conditioning. All of these boards have to have air conditioning to keep the screens cool if they have a back installed on them. If you were at Sam last year and looked up you saw two or three air conditioning compressors on their board.

UCA's is going to be larger than yours. But content counts too, bigger isn't always better.
