Looks if the numbers hold up, we will be the fourth largest university in the state.

I have been waiting for that info and wondered why it hasn't been advertised. Yes, if that is the case, TXST would be the 4th largest in the state. UNT's is at 36,220 I think.

If my memory serves me correctly, the enrollment figures are always released at the beginning of October.

Schools usually wait until the 16th class day to count attendance (some kids drop, never come to school, last minute entries, etc.) to get an accurate headcount. This timeline is nothing unique to Texas State.

Thought the numbers were based on 12th day. Also believe that last year the numbers were released on Oct 1st. I'm sure that the hold off is for a good reason, just curious.

Official news release
http://www.txstate.edu/news/news_releas ... 00814.html

Texas State University has announced the most diverse student body in the school's history, part of a record-setting enrollment of 36,790 for the 2014 fall semester.

This is an increase from the enrollment of 35,568 for the 2013 fall semester. It marks the 17th consecutive year Texas State has set a new record for total enrollment.

"We take seriously our role in preparing our state's future leader and workforce, and this steady growth tells us that students and their parents feel the same way," said Texas State President Denise M. Trauth.

Undergraduate enrollment also reached a new record of 32,215, an increase of 1,210 students. This was driven in large part by a record incoming freshman class of 5,365, a nearly four percent increase from 2013. The freshman class includes 228 Pathways students simultaneously enrolled at Texas State and Austin Community College.

"I am quite pleased that so many outstanding students have selected Texas State as their academic home for a quality education," Texas State Provost Eugene Bourgeois said. "Students at Texas State enjoy opportunities to forge careers that will benefit themselves and our state."

Texas State’s student body continues to diversify, with minorities making up 46 percent of the student body. Preliminary numbers indicate Hispanic enrollment increased approximately 9 percent to a record 11,626, and now comprises 32 percent of the student body. African-American enrollment increased more than 19 percent to 3,371 and accounts for 9 percent of the university population.

Other highlights include the College of Science and Engineering reporting record-setting enrollment of 4,673 students, a nearly 10 percent increase from last fall.

Enrollment at Texas State’s Round Rock campus totaled 1,897, a 6 percent increase from 2013.

Austin news story on numbers and growth. FYI, Quita Culpepper, the anchor on this story, is a Bobcat alumn. Love her.
