 SBC Volleyball
In case anyone is interested. Volleyball is playing divisions this year. TXST was picked to finish 2nd in the west. Currently, they hold a tenuous lead in the west by virtue of having beaten stAte.
With 8 matches left the girls stand at 14-9 (7-1) stAte is at 8-1 but, as I said, we hold the tie breaker. Have to take down GS tomorrow to stay in 1st place tie with the tie break. GS is 11-11 (5-3)
CCU leads the East 16-4 (7-1). Their lone conference loss is to stAte. Our lone loss was to CCU.

 Re: SBC Volleyball
Gals now sit at 15-9 (8-1). Worst case scenario is 8-8; which gets them in the tournament already. stAte has still played 1 more match than TXST & CCU so, technically, they have a 1/2 game lead. It will even out by season's end.
CCU only loss to stAte stAte only loss to TXST TXST only loss to CCU
Someone is going to lose another game. We have an away vs stAte still, but could lose to anyone. Right now, here's how things could shake out.
Assuming all 3 win out except for the TXST at stAte game (Likely considering who is left) then if stAte beats TXST they will be the one (seed). If TXST wins, Coastal is the one. (thanks to chiefsfan for the above info)
TXST can not be the 1 seed unless they win out and both CCU and stAte have a 2nd loss.

 Re: SBC Volleyball
Cat mom- we've been to the first round of the NCAA tourney at least a dozen times and only the 2nd round like once right, since Chism has been coach....
Any reason to believe this could be a 2nd or 3rd round year? Or if we make the NCAA tourney again will this be another bed shittin in the 1st round?

Being in the SBC doesn't preclude us from being sent to Austin and that's the big hurdle. I don't think we're good enough to take down UT. Unless we were the 2 or 3 seed and could play someone else in the opener and give them confidence. CCU and stAte would be sent to a Regional they have a chance to make some noise in. We always get UT. We have to break out of that. Softball got sent away from Texas this year. It was a good thing.

 Re: SBC Volleyball
I'm admittedly not very knowledgeable with volleyball, but I've always been under the impression that regionals are truly more geographically regional than a sport like baseball.
We're always sent to Austin, and they are usually one of the top teams in the country. Makes it tough to ever get out of a regional even when we're good. Would be nice to be sent somewhere else for a change.

(which was a real head scratcher)

 Re: SBC Volleyball
After dropping the first 2 sets, the Lady Bobcats come back and take the final 3 for a 3-2 win over ULL. They now sit at 17-9 (10-1) with 5 matches left.

 Re: SBC Volleyball
Lady's beat ULM 3-1 on Senior night. Four matches to go before the tourney and the gals sit at 18-9 (11-1) with a 9 game win streak.
Remaining matches, all away.
11/4 Little Rock 11/5 stAte 11/11 ULM 11/12 ULL
Tournament is 11/18-11/20 at UTA. TXST will have to travel the shortest distance and are the very familiar with that court.
CCU had only lost 4 sets in conference play. stAte has only lost 5. Dang. We've dropped 16

 Re: SBC Volleyball
11/4 @ Little Rock - lost this one 3-1 after taking them at home 3-0 11/5 @ stAte - got pummeled by stAte 3-0 after taking them at home 3-1 11/11 @ ULM - 3-1 win 11/12 @ ULL -
With one match left we can finish 13-3 but no worse than 12-4 in conference. A very good record but not good enough in the SBC. CCU has 1 match left and are at 14-1. stAte is finished and stands at 15-1. They will be the 1 seed by virtue of having beaten CCU.

First round would be 3 vs 6 which, right now, looks be TXST/USA; if the seeds are by record. The regular season match was close (3-2 us).
