Victoria, Texas - Gabby De Reuck fired a one-under par 71 to lift the Texas State Bobcats into first-place and claim the 2nd-Annual Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate title Tuesday afternoon at the Victoria Country Club. The Bobcats trailed Lamar by two strokes entering the final round of competition before taking the prize.

Both teams closed out the tournament with a combined 920 and the tiebreaker was determined by the fifth competitor's score. Texas State's Amy Glazier shot a 78 and Lamar's Fabienne Haremza carded an 89 to give Texas State the edge.

"I am very excited we fought our way to the victory in Victoria," said head coach Mike Akers. "We felt we could win, but started slow in rounds one and two. Once again, we played well in the final round and came out on top."

De Reuck finished individually in second-place after adding today's 71 with her previous set of 77's on the first 36 holes.

"Gabby really showed the caliber she is capable of," added Akers. "To shoot a one-under in the final round and almost win the tournament is incredible."

Cassie Huffer of Arkansas State claimed the individual title by three strokes, carding rounds of 73, 76 and 73 for a six-over par 222. Lamar's Linda Persson and Therese Nilsson took third and fourth place with a 227 and a 228. Houston Baptist's Andrea Zwartynski completed the individual top-five with rounds of 77, 77 and 75 for a 229.

Sydney Liles and Caitlin Bliss finished in a five-way tie for eighth-place with a tournament score of 231. Liles shot three rounds of 77, while Bliss carded a pair of 76s and a 79.

"Caitlin is getting back to her normal form," said Akers. "She should have a tremendous amount of confidence going into Utah."

Glazier tied for 14th and finished three strokes back from the duo at 18-over 234 and Trine Mortensen's 240 tournament tally tied for 32nd-place.

Arkansas State placed third with a 935, followed by UTSA with 937 and UTEP at 943.

"This team is very mentally tough and can handle pressure, so we are excited for our next two events in Utah and Miami where we will face some very good teams," said Akers.

Texas State's next tournament will be Mar. 24 in St. George, Utah for the BYU Dixie Classic.
