Post Series Thread - Vs. Louisiana
It's the three final home games of the season for the TXST baseball team this weekend as they host Louisiana.

The Cajuns struggled out of the gate this year, but are looking more like their usual selves lately having won 16 of their last 21 games. On the year they're 28-21 overall and 14-10 in SBC play, putting them in 2nd place in the west and just 0.5 game out of first.

As is typical with Cajun teams their strength is in their pitching and their Friday and Saturday starters are both very good. Friday night starter Colten Schmidt is the frontrunner for SBC pitcher of the year. Lefty Hogan Harris is very good as well.

Sunday will be senior day. 6 seniors are set to play their final home games in San Marcos.
SS Luke Sherley
OF Derek Scheible
C Jared Huber
UTIL players Dylan Paul and Mickey Scott
RP Cam Baird

Fraze is expected to move back into the Friday role to face off with Schmidt on Friday night. Reich expected to throw Saturday and Engle is set to make his 2nd consecutive Sunday start.

Another tough loss. 7-4 defeat to open the series.

Top of the Cajuns order just teed off on us. We almost literally couldn't retire the first two guys in the lineup. I think one of them was 5/5.

We hit two homers off Schmidt, which were just his 3rd and 4th given up all season, but we just didn't play well enough to win.

On a side note, boy are some of the Cajun fans annoying. Bitch about every ball called. Some are a good 3-4 inches off the plate and they're still chirping at the ump.

YEP! On all points, X.
Really grating on the calls. The loudest were right behind me.
Hope for better results today.

Cats come from behind to take game two 6-5.

Great relief appearance out of the pen from Pagano. Entered in a 4-2 game in the 5th and finished the game to get the win.

TXST scored four in the 7th to take the lead off two two-run homers from Sherley and Scheible.

Clean game defensively helped keep UL at 5. Rubber game and senior day at 1pm tomorrow.

Just nice to shut those fucking cajun fans up. Winning this game the way they did and the softball team winning the championship on Louisiana's home field is very sweet.

Would be even sweeter if we can find a way to win this series tomorrow.

What a wild game...

Engle didn't even record an out in his start. After starting the game walk, HBP, walk we go to Zach Leigh. After allowing four in the top of the first to fall in a huge 4-0 hole early, Leigh settles down and pitches a gem out of the pen giving up two runs over 7 complete innings.

Offense had a season high 17 hits to put up 8 runs to put us up 8-5 going into the 9th. Theriot pitched a clean 8th but gave up a lead off homer in the 9th to make it 8-6. We bring in Seth Jordan and he loads the bases up while recording one out. Up 8-6 with one out and the bases loaded we bring Luke Sherley to pitch for the first time in the seniors collegiate career. Sherley strikes out the next two batters to get the save and TXST takes the series over Louisiana. Just crazy.

Really enjoyed yesterday's game. Almost left in the first inning to go watch the track meet, decided to stick it out to see if it got any better. Got to sit between the Huber and Sherley families on senior day, that was fun. Can't believe the game Luke had, what a way to finish your senior year at the old Bobcat Ball park. He had several sterling plays at short, hit REALLY well, had three stolen bases (two at third) and finished up with a save in his only career pitching appearance. Striking out the last two on TEN pitches with the bases loaded, protecting a two run lead was really special. I think he will get a lot looks on draft day, might be our best pro prospect.

Hope they can get past the 'Horns and do well at UTA next weekend--see what happens at the tournament.
