Post Series Thread - @ Georgia State
Back to back weekends on the road for TXST as they travel to GSU this weekend.

Want some good news?
Nicholas Fraze listed as the probable starter for game two. Reich to pitch game one and Engle to pitch game three. Fraze pitched on Sunday last week but was on a strict pitch count throwing only 47 pitches of scoreless baseball over 4 innings. If Fraze is still on a limited pitch count I'd expect Leigh to be used in long relief again this week instead of as a starter. If Fraze is 100% though we could see Leigh fall back to the mid-week starter and see Lewis sent to the bullpen on four game weeks. Regardless, Fraze returning is a good sign.

Goes without saying the bats desperately could use a good weekend to get back on track.

The Panthers are 17-15 overall and in 5th place in the SBC east division at 5-6. They're coming off a solid mid-week win at Georgia Tech. Good news about playing at GSU is they have one of the worst environments in the league playing well off campus in Decatur. Not much of a home field advantage.

Tomorrow will be a doubleheader due to rain expected Sunday in the Atlanta area.

Can't remember a season in which weather has altered the schedule so much.

T4:
RBI double off the bat of Huber scores Hubbard to make it 1-0 bobcats.

Shuffield singles to score Huber. Shuffield is now 2 for 2 on the night. 2-0 bobcats.

RBI Texas leaguer by Scheible scores Shuffield after an Almendarez double. 3-0 bobcats.

Ortega follows that up with a single to score Almendarez. Scheible was moving on the play and advances to 3rd. 4-0 bobcats with runners on the corners.

Sherley sac fly scores Scheible. 5-0.

5-0 bobcats in the middle of the 4th. I'll take a few more offensive innings like that. Good to see. Especially against GSU's ace who has been really good all year with a 1.59 ERA entering tonight.

Back to back singles to open the bottom of the frame then a fielder's choice makes it 5-1 TXST with a runner on first and one out.

4-3 double play ends the inning.

5-1 TXST through 4.

Leadoff single followed by a walk puts runners on 1st and 2nd. Swinging bunt moves them to 2nd and 3rd and sac fly scores a run for GSU. 6-2 TXST.

B7:
Back to back singles to open the frame, then Reich gets a strike out for the first out of the inning. Reich's day will end with that strikeout with 6.1 innings pitched. Bradford enters in relief. 6-2 bobcats still.

Almendarez lays out in center and allows the ball get to the wall for a 2-RBI triple to make it 6-4 TXST. Have to let that ball drop with a 4-run lead.

RBI groundout follows to make it 6-5 TXST with 2 outs and the bases empty. That's Bradford's first run given up this season (first two charged to Reich).

Strikeout ends the inning. 6-5 TXST through 7.

T8:
Back-to-back walks puts Sherley and Newman on 1st and 2nd. Hubbard doubles off the wall and both Sherley and Newman score. Sounds like Newman may have been gunned and we may have got a beneficial call. Either way it's 8-5 TXST now with Paul at the plate and one out.

A passed ball moves Hubbard to 3rd, then Paul scores him on a sac fly to center. 9-5 TXST.

Baird enters to pitch the 8th with a 4 run lead.

GSU gets a lead off single, but a strikeout followed by a double play leads to a very quick B8th for Baird.

9-5 TXST heading to the 9th.

B9:
Walk, single, single scores one for GSU.
10-6. Runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs.
2-rbi double. 10-8. Runner on 2nd, no outs.
Baird getting pulled.
Braden Pearaon getting a save op. Have to say I was expecting Theriot here.
Single puts runners on the corners with no outs still.
Huuuuge double play clears the bases though does score a run for GSU. 10-9 with two outs and nobody on.
Single for the 5th hit of the 9th for GSU puts a runner on 1st.
And now Theriot will enter the game to try and close it out.

Theriot gets a 1-3 groundout to end it. Shaky 9th to say the least but TXST gets the win in the series opener 10-9.

Doubleheader tomorrow starting at 1pm to close out the series.

We were lucky. Baird really struggled tonight. Glad we got the win though. Looking forward to Fraze starting the next game as this is a really good chance to win the series after game 2. A sweep would really help.

Encouraging to see the offense put up 10 runs for the first time since early March and put up a season high 15 hits.

Unfortunately our bullpen struggled more than they have since early in the season. We just seem to struggle with putting it all together on any given night.

Really need a series win.
