true, but trout won it last year when the angels were horrid and harper won it in 2015, so that doesn't seem to hold as much weight as years past. plus, 59 homers is ridiculous hitting in the 2 hole w/ yelich behind him, never mind that seemingly every one is a tape measure blast. personally, i think blackmon is the most deserving, given how balanced his numbers are and without him, the rockies don't make the wcg.

I agree on both points. I really want him to win it but I don't see it.

Astros win a wild epic game 2 in 11 innings 7-6. A combined 8 HRs were hit in this game, a WS record, 5 were hit in extra innings. Astros hit 3 in extras . . Heading to Houston tied 1-1, can't wait for game 3 Friday night.

from rotoworld

Nationals signed INF Jason Martinson to a minor league contract.
Martinson was drafted by the Nationals in 2010 (fifth round out of Texas State University) and is now back with the organization after batting just .208/.286/.361 over 204 plate appearances in 2017 with the Triple-A affiliate of the Rangers. The career minor leaguer turned 29 years old in October.

I thought Donnie Hart may join Goldie and Carson Smith in the bigs to start the season this year. He is rated as the second best RP at AAA for the Orioles. He should get a call later this season.

Will be interesting to see if the Sox made enough moves in the off season to overcome the big bad Yankees. The East is really only a two team race, no one else really in a position to compete . . .

Take heart though, If you don't win it outright, a lot of pundits are projecting the Sox as a Wild Card.

winning the division means nothing to me other than bragging rights. plenty of teams have won the world series as a wild card since it was implemented. the bigger issue is that we thought the bullpen was upgraded in the offseason, not in small part through smith being healthy, and (through 1 whole game) doesn't look legit.

Winning the division means a whole lot more than it used to now that a play-in game is involved.

"my Sox"... I've actually never been annoyed with anything you've said until that and not b/c I have any hatred toward the Red Sox...

Goldy having a rough start to the season and batting under .100 five games in.

carson has been solid since opening day, dropping his era from 27.0 to 10.8 after just 2 more appearances and 4 batters faced.

one of my favorite things about early season baseball is the massive stat swings due to the limited datapoints.
