He isn't gone unless he wants to be. No way in hell Larry fires him at this point.

Correct. I think this is reality.

There are some boosters that adore "the ol' ball coach" and think he can do no wrong.

Here's a Fun Fact:

State of Texas schools RPI's as of today:

3. Texas Tech
5. TCU
15. Baylor
22. Texas
29. Houston
31. A&M
50. DBU
56. Rice
70. Sam
82. UTA
105. UTSA
121. Lamar
131. HBU
143. SFA
189. Corpus
191. TXST
231. UTRGV
263. Abilene Christian
270. Incarnate Word
273. Tx Southern
286. PVA&M

That makes us the 16th best D1 baseball program in the state out of 21. So, we got that going for us . Looks worse when you group the state RPI rankings:

1-7 = Tech, TCU, Baylor, UT, Houston, A&M, DBU (sounds about right)
8-14 = Rice, Sam, UTA, UTSA, Lamar, HBU, SFA (again, about right other than Rice)
15-21 = Corpus, TXST, UTRGV, Abilene, Incarnate, Tx Souhern, PVA&M (oh shit!!!)

I have talked to him at some baseball functions and he has always been personable. Hard to tell much from those though. One of the best football strategy conversations I ever had with a coach was talking to Fran about defending the option before the Navy game in San Marcos.

Harrington's team leadership is non-existent and the players would rather have Trout run the program...but until the good 'ole ball coach's booster friends say he needs to go, nothing is going to change. And that's the bottom line!!! His booster friends would have already fired him if he was in charge of one of their businesses. I'm sure they don't settle for below average results from their top managers. The only other way is if a handful of players get together and take it to the athletic department.

Again, Harrington does LESS WITH MORE!!!

Harrington own't be gone until he wants to retire. He has it made. He had a good run, now let's hire SHSUs coach or something so we can be proud of our team again.

don't know about "don no wrong" but he's definitely my favorite coach, or hell...person, at the school. he's great at alumni events, cool to bullshit with at tailgates, and an all around nice guy. i don't want him to be the coach anymore, but it will suck when he's gone just because i like the dude.

Would be nice if they gave Harrington an ambassador type role.

Keep him on payroll, but relieve him of coaching. Let him be out there to work with the donors, speak at events, hell... he can even help on the recruiting side.

I still remember meeting Harrington after a football game, where he was driving the golf cart to take people to their cars.

He was extremely nice and personable. Talked with us about the football (and of course baseball) team, seemed interested in getting to know us.

I too will be sad when he goes, but I know it's the best thing for us at this point.

Make him a special assistant to the president with a fund raising role and he will pay for his salary several times over. I know I'm alone on this but I'm willing to give him one more year due to special circumstances. If we are in the same position next year, and we probably will be, then its time to figure something else out.

at this point we can only ruin other teams' seasons as nothing is expected of us one way or another...it could be sweet ol' revenge for the 2009 and 2010 SLC seasons when we were the team who had expectations and lost to the #7 seed in back to back seasons in the conf tourney championship final by a combined 16 runs and run-rule against Lamar

AD posting about our great attendance of over 48K for the season. Can you imagine how many we could draw if we had a good team? That stadium would be too small!
