Post Series Thread - @ South Alabama
May just be trying to avoid a sweep this weekend the way things have been going lately for us. USA has a solid club. 25-17 overall, 52 RPI, 12-6 Sun Belt record, 1st in the east division.

Schedule/Probable Pitching Matchup:
Friday - 6:30pm:
#41 RHP Connor Reich (2-3, 4.47 ERA) vs. #39 RHP Randy Bell (3-3, 3.62 ERA)
Saturday - 6:30pm:
#36 RHP Nicholas Fraze (4-1, 4.42 ERA) vs.#26 LHP Thomas Huston (4-2, 3.54 ERA)
Sunday - Noon:
#32 RHP Cam Baird (1-5, 5.05 ERA) vs. #23 LHP Tyler Carr (3-1, 4.47 ERA)

- Jared Huber did not make the trip to Mobile. 2nd straight weekend he's stayed at home. Rodriguez likely to catch every game.
- No idea if we should expect Ortega to be healthy and play in the field all weekend or not.
- Joe Powell didn't travel to Baylor Tuesday with sickness. I think he's back for this weekend though.

No Huber, Ortega, or Almendarez still.

Cats up 2-0 in the bottom of the 4th.

Reich gets out of a bases loaded jam with a strikeout.

With new tourney format everyone gets to go with bottom teams having a play in game. Don't think we'll fall that far but not sure it really matters although it might be best shot at a tourney win. Lack of any pitching depth makes doing any real damage in the tourney almost impossible.

Only once in last 12 games have we held the opposition to under 4 runs. Reich actually threw better than his line score last night. Had we any reliable bullpen arms a lot of that damage could have been avoided. First 7 out of 8 batters reached in 5th (6 straight) and only out was sac bunt before Ty pulled Reich. Kind of shows a lack of confidence in the pen.

Forgot to hit the sarcasm button!

Noticed that Reich walked 6 batters in his four inning stint, not good.

I guess at this point of the season, at our current level of athletic performance, the sarcasm should be understood.

we gave up 23 walks in the series
wonder why we couldn't win a game?
well, really, that was just one of the reasons.

I don't think the worst 2 teams in the league make the tournament at all.
7-10 seeds play in the play-in games. I don't foresee us making the top 6 at this point. We will likely be in the 7-10 range. Winning the tournament from a 7-10 seed with our pitching depth will be close to impossible.

You are correct, my bad...brain fart. In that case the new format probably hurts. At least if we were 7 or 8 seed we'd have a chance for a win in one of our 2 games. With a single elim for 7-10 its about 50/50 we're one and dun.

Let me ask you a blunt question x since you're close to the program....if you were AD would you make a change in the team's leadership?
