Post Remaining baseball games
There isn't a nice way of putting things we should have and needed the sweep with ULM @ home (now 3-3 in game 1 of series @ home this season with 2 of those W's coming from teams with rpis close to 300)... the rest of the season is murders row even if the SBC this year is very top-to-middle balanced looking so far which means we're still very much in the mix if quite a bit of business is taken care of

in hindshight I really wish we had back the stAte, Little Rock and Purdue series as we should have done a better job taking care of business

As we know this is what the rest of the season looks like:

*16/19 next games feature teams with better rpis than us
*the #2/3 rpi'ed conf opponents are both on the road
*all mid week games on the road

Post Re: Remaining baseball games
This is a very good point and some got excited when we had a good March but didn't take into account (other than Coastal) we have played the bottom of the conference to date (excl Ga State) and were 7-5 against those teams and feasted on Richmond, Alabama A&M and App State. Our RPI is 169 (8th in conference) and our Strength of Schedule is 222. There was never any way we would make the post season other than winning the tourney and with the pitching/depth that was never a real threat. As a side note the latest Baseball America prediction for the post season had the Sun Belt with only one team (Coastal). I think ULL will get hot and make it if they don't win the tourney.

While the Sun Belt is ranked poorly at 12th best RPI conference we will be fortunate to finish above .500 in conference when it's all said and done. Troy is down but a tough place to play, South Al and ULL are probable sweeps on the road which leaves only Ga State and UTA at home, both winnable series. That would put the conference record around 12-15.

Add 4 remaining tough non-conference games all on the road (UT, Baylor, UTSA, Rice) and the next month will be tough. All adds up to .500 season give or take a game or two. Not great but better than I predicted after the start.

The biggest plus this season has been Hoffman. Kid has played his way into draft position. Good to see Hubbard performing as well. Always interesting when a kid who wasn't even a starter when the season opened make all conference, etc, i.e. Geisler in '14. Makes you wonder about the decision makers.

Didn't Hubbard have some minor injury when the season started?

Minor = lesser in importance, seriousness, or significance.

I know I recall hearing speculation that he was coming off some type of minor injury early in the season and that he possibly wasn't at 100%.

Thanks for the definition of 'minor'. Yeah, you're probably right. Had nothing to do with Scott going 0-7 with 4 K's and an error in first two games and Almanderez not looking good at 2B that had Hubbard starting 22 hours later when his minor injury had improved to 0%.

I'm just saying that it was mentioned on here and on radio broadcast pregame that he possibly was. I don't know if he really was or not and if he was it must have been minor. I'm sure our defensive issues in the infield got him on the field quicker whether he was or not, though Scott continued to start until Sherley returned so getting Hubbard on the field didn't get Scott's bat out of the lineup.
