Never going to win until we can figure out how to not give up 8 innings in the first 3 innings of every game.

Gave up after OKST went up 8-0. Got tired of watching Paul run to the backstop in the 3rd. He was only charged with 2 passed balls for the game but a couple of the wild pitches could have been put in his stats. Know we're playing a little short handed on the infield but no excuse for not making routine plays.

Still good job by Courville stopping the bleeding after another piss poor start. Knowing Ty, he'll have Courville making the Friday start next week. Always fun to watch him scramble with the pitching when it struggles. You can go from back of the bullpen to weekend starter with a good outing. 5 months of solid bullpens, sim games and inter squads are thrown out the window if you have a bad outing.

Also good to see the offense make a game of it. Buffet was mowing em down for the first 3 innings. He went into the season as a top draft pick after turning down big money last season but after poor starts against Grand Canyon and now TXST he needs to turn it around. I'd say he's costing himself some cash but as a relative to Warren Buffett he'll be ok I think.

How about this stat:
We've given up at least 8 runs through the first 4 innings in 4 of our 6 games.

Starting pitching has been horrendous so far.

Game 2 of the series at 3pm today.

TC, I noticed that as well. The other night several balls got passed our catcher that could have been PBs, but were called WPs. This seems to almost always be the case at Bobcat.

That's what you get with Dylan "Passed Ball" Paul© back there.

I'm kind of shocked how little we are using Huber this year. He's easily our best defensive catcher and I think has only started 1 of 6 games. We probably don't have the offensive prowess to have a .220 hitting catcher in the lineup unfortunately.

I'd opt for some defense behind the plate since we have such an 'offensive' team (pun intended). Move Paul back out to the outfield and change his name to Dylan "Porn Stache" Paul. Not quite as catchy I know

Yeah I agree. Especially with Newman out. We have to play Benton at 1st anyway. LF is open. Had Almendarez out there last night. Despite a career game from him last night he doesn't hit any better than Huber.

Huber catches, Paul in LF, Benton at 1st. Just set it and forget it until Newman is back.

One of my biggest Ty gripes is the constant changing of the lineup and position changes. We've got guys switching positions all over the field already.

I miss the good old days (08,09,10,11,12) when I could fill out my score book for (practically) the whole season ahead of time, sans pitcher on week nights, and only have to worry about substitutions & pinch hitters and those were usually decent utility guys like Perkins and Vest

:sigh:

Beat the #11 team in the country today....Took them to the 9th inning last night....And have a chance to win the series tomorrow....Some of us see the hole in our lineup and definitely starting pitching....Some of us aren't happy unless we're bitching about something...

Having a "realistic" view of this Athletic Department, its teams, and their deficiencies does not equate with "being happy unless we're bitching about something."

Being content with winning tonight and bitching about our inadequate athletic dept are two different things.

If I let our athletic administration dictate my mood after every sporting event I'd never get to experience happiness. No thank you.

Good win tonight.

After reading all of the post this morning about my negativity, I realized that I never made my point. Yes it was a good victory and exciting to watch. I wasn't trying to be negative. I forgot to add that "with our inexperienced pitching staff our games this year are going to quite lengthy".
sorry

by the way, as I tell my wife, I am not negative, just realistic. 8)
