Hoffman's injury was a spine injury. X-Rays are negative so good news. No fractures.

Georgia Southern beat Georgia State in the first game of their doubleheader today. Southern moves into a tie with us and Troy for 4th. With UTA just 1 game behind the 3 of us there is just 1 game separating 4th and 7th place right now.

1) Great RP for last two games!

15 Ks last night was the most for TXST since the 2013 season opener vs. Missouri State.

Georgia State comes through and beats Southern for us in game 2 of their doubleheader 5-4.

Back to a 2-way tie for 4th with Troy, Southern drops back again to 6th.

Scott with an RBI single scores Paul in the top of the 4th,
but UTA gets 2 back in the bottom half off Halonquist. Pagano takes over and gets TXST out of the inning with a 5-1 deficit through 4.

Not a great night for Halonquist.

Bobcats get two back in the top of the 5th. 5-3 going to the bottom of the 5th.
Pagano sits the mavs down in order in the bottom half.

Nothing for the bobcats in the top of the 7th.
UTA starts the bottom of the 7th with back to back singles. Pagano Ks the next batter for the first out and Ty is going back to the pen.
Joe Powell in with 2 on and 1 out.
Fly out followed by a strike out and Powell gets us out of the jam.

Through 7 innings UTA leads 5-4.

Studdard is stranded at 2nd in the top of the 8th.

UTA lead off batter in the 8th thinks he has a homer and trots down the line, ball goes off the wall and they are left with just a lead off single.
Powell nearly falls down trying to field the sac bunt and has no play at first. Two on, no outs for the top of the order.
Haha. Powell can't field the next bunt either. Bases loaded with nobody out.
Ty has seen enough, Atwood coming in.
Walk. 6-4.
RBI single. 7-4.
Strikeout. 1 down.
2-RBI double. 9-4. That should likely do it.
6-3 putout. 2 down.
Strikeout ends the 8th.

Bobcats need at least 5 in the 9th to keep the game going.

Yesterday's Scores:
Georgia State 5, Georgia Southern 4
Georgia Southern 6, Georgia State 0
ULL 8, ULM 2
ULL 6, ULM 5
Arkansas State 12, Little Rock 10
Troy 4, South Alabama 2

After losing to Troy last night, USA still can't claim the regular season crown yet. With a win today or a ULM win over ULL they will be outright champs and the 1 seed. If USA loses again to Troy and ULL beats ULM again, ULL will overtake USA on the final day for the championship and the 1 seed (though I'm sure they would both claim championships as they would finish tied. ULL owns the tiebreaker after winning 2 of 3 in Mobile last weekend).

Either way, USA and ULL win be the 1 and 2 seeds in the tournament and on opposite sides of the bracket. Just a matter of which is 1 and which is 2 now.

Despite losing to Arkansas State yesterday, Little Rock has clinched the 3 seed and will be on the side of the bracket with the 2 seed.

4, 5, 6, and 7 are all still separated by 1 game and we will finish in one of those 4 spots. Scenario is pretty simple. Win today and we should be the 5 seed and will be in the 1, 4, 5, 8 side of the bracket. Lose and we will be either the 6 or 7 seed in the 2, 3, 6, 7 side of the bracket.

With Arkansas State's win over Little Rock yesterday they clinch the 8th and final spot in the tournament. That eliminates both ULM and Georgia State. The tournament field is now set, today's games will affect seeding only.

Rubber match is at 2pm today.

If Hennigan is healthy we could see him make the start. If not we will probably pitch by committee like we did vs. UT on Tuesday. Remember, the tournament starts Wednesday and all 8 teams will play on Wednesday so it will be a short week of rest for the weekend rotation.
