Post Series Thread - @ Arkansas State
2nd to last weekend series of the regular season starts Friday night in Jonesboro vs. Arkansas State.

Game Info: Texas State at Arkansas State
Site: Tomlinson Stadium/Kell Field – Jonesboro, Ark.
Date: Friday, May 13 – Sunday, May 15
Time: Friday – 6 p.m. | Saturday – 4 p.m. | Sunday – 12 p.m.

Probable Pitching Matchups:
Friday: RHP #21 Lucas Humpal (6-4, 2.90 ERA) vs. RHP #12 Cody Jackson (1-3, 4.70 ERA)
Saturday: LHP #34 Jonathan Hennigan (4-2, 3.39 ERA) vs. RHP #17 Peyton Culbertson (4-0, 3.41 ERA)
Sunday: TBA vs. TBA

Sunday starter is TBA, just like last weekend. Hallonquist ended up starting game 3. Geisler re-aggravated his shoulder two weeks ago and I'm not sure when to expect him back. In other injury news Hubbard has a lower body injury of some sort that has him out of the lineup and limping around pretty good. Not sure how serious that injury is. And after missing quite a few games with a hamstring injury, Hoffman saw his first AB in a couple weeks on Sunday in a pinch-hit scenario. Not sure if he's healthy enough or not to get back into the regular lineup.

Texas State is in 4th place in the conference at 13-11, Arkansas State is in a 3-way tie for 8th with Georgia State and ULM at 9-15. Remember, only the top 8 teams in the league make the conference tournament so this is a pivotal series for Arkansas State. With a series win the Bobcats will secure a spot in the tournament regardless of what we do against UTA in the final weekend series.

Lost Friday night 6-1.

We scored 6 in the top of the 4th in today's game to take a 6-0 lead, but have since given up 5 and stAte has the tying run on 3rd in the bottom of the 7th with 1 out.

We just brought Mazzoccoli in, bad outing for Hodson as he came in with a 6 run lead.

And an RBI triple just tied it 6-6.

Go-ahead run now on 3rd with 1 out.

Also, stAte came back from a 6 run deficit in game 2 of last year's series in San Marcos to win it. Trying to accomplish that feat two years in a row.

Mazzoccoli got rocked just like Hodson, 3rd straight 3 run innings makes it 9-6 in the bottom of the 8th. Runner at 2nd with 2 outs and we are going back to the bullpen.

Not. Good.

9-6 final.

Bobcats squander a 6 run lead to lose the series, try to salvage a win tomorrow.

Also of note, Geisler had been injured the past two weeks after re-aggravating his shoulder. Hennigan was scheduled to start today but was scratched due to muscle spasms. Geisler started today (I'd have to assume he was set to start Sunday as we didn't have a starter listed). Geisler looked fine, but he hasn't been fully healthy all year. Now Hennigan apparently is having some issues. I'm guessing we see Hallonquist tomorrow and maybe Brandon Lewis vs. Texas on Tuesday if Hennigan's injury is serious.

Good news is Hoffman started in RF today so apparently is healthy enough to get back in the field. Hubbard still out.

Hallonquist starting today.

Dylan Paul in CF. Pretty sure the first time he's been in center all year. 52nd game of the year and still trying out new things....

0-0 after 1.

2 RBI single from Ortega in the top of the 2nd makes it 2-0 Bobcats, still batting with Huber on 2nd and Ortega at 1st.

stAte has already gone to the pen. They are running out of pitching this weekend, we need to win today.

Studdard rolls into a double play to end the threat.

2-0 Bobcats in the middle of the 2nd.

Hallonquist was perfect through the first 8 batters, but just gave up a solo homer to make it 2-1 Cats.

The A-State batter that hit it just hit his first HR of the season yesterday, he's now got 2.

Next batter flies out to CF to end the inning.

2-1 TXST through 3.

2-out bases loaded single in the bottom of the 5th makes it 3-2 Red Wolves through 5.

The reliever they brought in during the 2nd has shut us down. He's usually a starter that I think had some injury issues and has come back this week working out of the bullpen. Through 5 we only have 2 hits.

RBI single for Felipe Rodriguez makes it 9-3 in the top of the 9th.

Bases loaded for Ortega. Ortega plates the run from 3rd with an RBI groundout, 10-3 Bobcats now. Runners at 2nd and 3rd for Studdard.

Studdard with an RBI single makes it 11-3 now with runners on the corners and 2 outs for Hill.

Hill rips a double down the left field line to score another. 12-3 with runners on 2nd and 3rd for Hoffman as the Bobcats have now batted around this inning.

Hoffman flies out. 12-3 Bobcats in the middle of the 9th.

Hallonquist back out for the 9th trying for a complete game.

He's thrown 97 pitches through 8 giving up 3 hits on 6 strike outs and 1 walk.
