Score 6 in the 9th to lose 12-8.

Disaster 3rd inning did us in. 3 errors and i think 6 hits surrendered allowed 8 runs to cross.

You are correct Sir. We dug ourselves a deep hole early . . .

. . . . and the Free Fall continues . . .

That third inning last night was the most embarrassing event I've ever watched at Bobcat Stadium.
The three errors were brutal--easy grounders at third and short, then a throw behind the runner to first with NO ONE close to covering the base. WOW. You could see the body language in Huempel that he didn't want to be out there any longer.

Good news, there was real excitement in the Cat dugout during the ninth inning rally. Got some key hits from pinch hitters that haven't produced much for us this season. With Cory on the mound today, I'm really hopeful for a win that will get the team going in the right direction for the rest of the season.

Need to win today to stay in 4th. Another loss today and we will drop to 5th.

Has this team Quit? or Is it just that bad?

I don't think they have quit. Last night and today, they battled hard in the bottom of the 9th.
This is certainly not a very good team. I find it odd that after fall ball, practice before the season started and 44 games, we are still searching for certain position players and we don't have a defined closer.

I think we do have a defined closer (Mazzoccoli), he just hasn't had many opportunities lately cause we are, you know, never leading late.

We certainly don't have the lineup figured out though. Engle DH'ing in the 6 hole today is plenty proof of that. Other than Ortega at leadoff and Studdard/Hill interchangeably batting 3rd and 4th we have no clue still.

This has gotten beyond rediculous! Their is an obvious disconnect between the players and the head coach! The players like playing for the other coaches. We have played 44 games and guess how many different lineups we have had? 44 is the answer! We have not played the same lineup in any two games this year! He has grasped at straws the entire year. Early in the year when we were scoring he tinkered with the lineup for some reason and we have not recovered and batting averages have plummeted! Micromanagement needs to stop immediately! Let the coaches do what the are paid to do. When he let them run the offense and pitching we were a hell of a better team. I've seen a lot of baseball and the talent IS there! You need a stable team when you are young. You cannot have them wondering if or what am I doing this game. There is a reason we have had the same head coach for 17 years and he hasn't gone anywhere! I can't think of his name coming up one time for ANY bigger jobs. In that 17 years we have been to the regionals 3 times! And one of the three times were with the previous coaches players including a first round draft pick stud to throw on Friday nights and Shut out Baylor in the first game of the regional. This year is the first year I thought we had enough talent to repeat but the team is being held back by something or someone. Here is something about that- A few years ago a sports psychologist came in to talk to the team about what was holding the program back and when he got done in his report he said what his evaluation concluded which was one person. The psychologist was told to leave! Tonight's rant is over! Thanks for listening!
