Mazzoccoli able to get out of the inning after a Hubbard error and an intentional walk put runners at first and second.

Heading to extras tied at 2.

Hill leads off the top of the 10th with a single and is pushed around to 3rd for Nick Perez with 2 outs. Perez doubles down the left field line to make it 3-2 Cats.

Heading to bottom of the 10th. TXST up 3-2.

Would assume again Mazzoccoli stays out there to try and close it out.

Bunt single to start it for UTRGV.
And Hodson promptly balks to put the tying run at 2nd with no outs.
Another infield single. 1st and 3rd with no outs.
Big strikeout for Hodson makes it 1st and 3rd with 1 down.
Sac fly to center ties it at 3. Runner at 1st with 2 outs.
Runner steals 2nd, winning run in scoring position.

Unbelievable.

Routine ground ball and Sherley throws it in the dirt. Runner scores from 2nd.

Bobcats lose 4-3. 4 errors on the night.

They need to get it into their heads that these mid week games are crucial when it comes to crunch time at the end of the season. TXST teams seem to have forgotten that concept and sense of urgency to get some of these games.

The season is 1/3 in already. Can't wait until the end of April to grab these. Need then right out of the blocks.

Two of the four runs were unearned. Four errors is unacceptable. In the first inning on an error by Ortega and as mentioned, in the tenth by Shirley. Shirley also had a second error in the game. He flat out choked on the throwing error to end the game. The throw came up short. The balk by Hodson in the 10th changed the entire inning and contributed to the run scoring.
I am impressed with Hodson. He has a much better lower body than most of our pitchers. His fast ball is lively and his composure is very good for a freshman.
We left a bunch of runners on base threw the first eight innings and then had clutch two out hits in the ninth and ten. Should have won this game. This weekend should show us how good we really are.

The error on Ortega in the 1st can be partially attributed to Sherley as well. He fielded the ball 3 feet from the bag, just take it yourself instead of flipping it to Ortega.

Hodson is a senior, not a freshman. TXST is his 4th school to pitch for in 4 years.

4 errors, didn't hit well - we didn't deserve to win.

That being said, we suffered from some bad calls last night.

Home plate ump kept calling strikes on balls 6" off the plate. Each of these was a strikeout looking to Hubbard, Ortega, and Hoffman. The worse one was to Lovejoy but I didn't screenshot it.

The balk in the 10th inning wasn't a ball at all. The ump called it after reacting to a section the crowd simultaneously yelling "Balk". They tried it again later in the inning.

Just heard we probably won't see USA ace Kevin Hill until Friday in the upcoming series.

Their Friday game was rained out last week so he pitched on Saturday. They don't want him to go on Thursday on two less days rest than usual so expect Humpal vs. their #2 on Thursday and Hallonquist vs. Hill on Friday.

Hill was the 2015 Sun Belt pitcher of the year with a 10-0 record and 1.73 ERA, striking out 107 while walking 38. He was named the preseason Sun Belt pitcher of the year this year and is off to a good start with a 4-1 record and a 2.17 ERA with 47 strikeouts to 8 walks.

i know you can't always trust the tv camera angles, but man...that looks pretty bad.

They had a center field camera. As I watched my jaw dropped with this umps strike zone but I didn't want to say anything because I've been accused of being overly critical of umpires and refs.

I'm glad to see I wasn't being so last night.

Camera was kind of center-left center it seemed like. A lof of times they will put it up just to the left field side of the batters eye so it's usually not dead center.

Unless the camera angle was playing some weird tricks on us, he sure seemed to have an extremely generous outside corner though. From the camera angle we had a few of them didn't even look close.
