Post 2018 Recruiting/Transfers
Looks like we got our first commit for 2018 finally.

5'9 G Mason Harold from Midwest City, OK. Averaged 33.3 PPG, 4.5 APG, and 3.4 STLS. Was named Oklahoma Gatorade boys basketball player of the year.

POY announcement: http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/o ... 7aff1.html

My thoughts: good stats (although I'm not sure how OK basketball is). A little bit on the shorter side which is an issue considering our type of play. Maybe Kaspar is going to be a bit more offensive?

I'm not sure how many ships we have left to give out. 2 or 3? It depends on who transfers.. I guess we'll see who will soon. I would like another big man and a freshman 3 to develop behind Pearson.

Good stuff. I’ll take a state’s POY. Hopefully he can figure out a way to not be too hindered by his size at this level. With Shead, Davis, Nottingham, Miller all able to play PG, one of those guys may be moving on. Think Nottingham may move to the 2 and play with Davis/Shead more often and have two ball handlers anyway.

Yeah I think Nottingham plays SG next year. His days at the point are probably behind him.

I'll take Trae Young's successor as OK Gatorade player of the year and anyone averaging 33.3 PPG will be warmly welcomed by me.

By my count we have two scholarships available if nobody with eligibility transfers out (now only one when Harrell signs).

Commit #2 is in: 6'7 F Akiem Daschner of Ranger College is in. Averaged 17.6 PPG, 10.6 RPG, and 1.1 APG. Seems like he has 3 years of eligibility left. I'm so-so on this recruit. He's a rebounding machine (27th and 28th in the country for off and def rebounds, respectively), but it seems like he'd play the 4 where we have 3 players coming back at that position...

FWIW verbalcommits have him listed as a SF. Where we just have Pearson and maybe Adams that have played there.

Hey x, are you thinking Shead gets the last one? He has been listed as a walk-on.

Yes I'm counting Shead as a scholarship player for next year.

If nobody transfers out I'm pretty sure we just have two additional scholarships available once Shead takes one. However, I'm pretty sure there hasn't been a season yet under Kaspar we haven't had some attrition from underclassmen.

The Harrell commitment today has me thinking Reggie Miller may be leaving. I could be wrong though.

I think Nedja is gone. Marlin Davis has been streaming BB practice via periscope and in all 4 of his broadcasts Nedja is not there. Here's his periscope: https://www.pscp.tv/Yungmarlo_/1gqxvpdMlrRGB

In these videos both Shead and Gurley look pretty good.

Well I was def wrong on Miller....

Announcers during the SBC tournament mentioned Nedja was having some family issues in Serbia. I wouldn't be surprised if he had to head home after the season ended. Doesn't necessarily mean he's gone, but you never know.

Thanks for that link.

Looking at his #s I think he would be a 4. Good rebounding #s and only attempted .5 3s per game, so everything was inside. But we’ll see. No doubt the stat line is good, hopefully he can help.

Hope a grad transfer 5 is something the staff is hard after. I don’t mind Terry but need another guy that can play 15 min (preferably 25 and Terry stay at 15). I’d be hesitant to add another Jr as that would make six on the roster and same class as Terry. I like the class structure more balanced but that’s personal preference. But like x stated, there’s always been more than one guy leave the program each year that still had eligibility.

Don't forget Alonso Sule will be a redshirt freshman next season and will likely backup Terry.

I agree that given who we currently have on the roster and the two commitments today, center still looks like the biggest need to me.

Here's some more video of Mason Harrell.

This is an interesting recruit for Kaspar. At 5'9, his game will definitely lean towards the offensive side of the ball.

Looks like Miller is indeed gone. https://twitter.com/sniiperjones10/stat ... 15488?s=21

Sucks to see him go, as I thought he had a lot of potential. He was just very thin. Maybe an indication of where Kaspar wants to go seeing as he brought on an offensive minded PG, and pushed out a guy who was named defensive MVP in his district in HS.
