Sorry guys, no time today for an in depth write-up.

TXST plays their first non-D1 game of the season tonight vs. D3 McMurry. Tip-off at 7pm from Strahan.

24-5 TXST at the under 12 media timeout.

We shouldn't be playing D3 teams. Period.

Gurley playing after sitting out with a groin injury for 3 games. However, Blount is out sick. Nottingham got his first career start at SG. Looks like Prijovic still out injured also.

Really quick 8-0 McMurry run makes it 32-15 TXST. Kaspar calls timeout.

Pearson leading all scorers with 9.

49-21 TXST at the under 4 media timeout.

Blount playing a bit, but "under the weather".

King leading all scorers now with 10.

56-28 TXST at halftime.

King has 10, Pearson 9, Shelby Adams 8, Eric Terry 6.

Bobcats shooting 66.67% from the field and 60% from 3.

Should be noted that McMurry's best player is out. They're shooting just 35.7% from the floor but have hit 5 of 10 3s

Immanuel King looks like Shaq out there against this undersized D3 team.

80-44 at under 8 media.

Shelby Adams has tied King with 14, new career high for Adams.

Big negative: after a few better games at the FT line we're just 13/26 tonight.

93-46 at the final media timeout.

Adams now leads all scorers with 16.

100-50 final.

Shelby Adams leads all scorers with 17.
King finishes with 14.
Isaiah Gurley and Reggie Miller score 13 apiece.
Pearson adds 12.

Forced a whopping 36 McMurry turnovers and scored 49 points off them.

Big glaring negative is an ugly 48.6% from the FT line, including an ugly 1/8 from walkon Quentin Scott.

On to our 2nd straight road game against a Southland Conference private school as we play @ ACU Saturday. Hopefully we don't lose this time. I'll bitch about it again, but our non-conference scheduling is trash in basketball. We're playing SLC teams on the road and hosting D3 teams. This must be improved if we're ever to be taken seriously.

I was there as well with my niece. I really enjoyed getting to see the younger players play. I really like Reggie Miller and Shelby Adams. Marlen better not look over his shoulder or Reggie might pass him up. Shelby is going to be a stud.

I completely agree. Is this all on Kaspar, or does the AD push a scheduling agenda?

Non-Conference scheduling definitely falls into the job responsibilities of the Athletic Director and his department, but in this case it appears to me as if Kaspar is the one likely pushing the agenda to the AD.

As soon as he got here he cut the yearly UT game (probably for the best in the first few years) and the schedule started to become significantly weaker overall. Less high-major teams and lots of low-major and non-D1 games. We rarely even play peer mid-majors anymore also. I've heard SFA fans say he typically pushed a weak non-conference schedule there as well.

I will say, I was on board with it at first. The program was in bad shape when Kaspar took over and a weak non-conference schedule was the smart move in my opinion to build a better overall record to help progress the program and help recruiting. But while the program has progressed significantly over the last 5 years, the scheduling hasn't at all. At some point the scheduling has to progress also, it's literally impossible to build a respectable RPI with our non-conference schedule without going undefeated.

To be clear, I'm not asking for a tough non-conference schedule. But according to ESPN's BPI we currently have the 341st ranked strength of schedule of 351 teams. That's unacceptable to me for a team that went 22-14 last year in a middle of the pack conference. We should at least be around the 200 mark in non-conference SOS.
