Shead looks like a very quality add as a true PG. He left in December but is just enrolling, so assume he will redshirt instead of being eligible in January. Means another player from last year is not on the team. Lots of new faces again for '17-18.

He will redshirt for the 17-18 season and won't play till 18-19. So didn't lose anyone else after Starwood, Shead will take the scholarship of one of this year's seniors (King, Duncan, Blount).

Still going after that super easy OOC I see. Can't really blame them but it sure isn't exciting.

Well, we'll see. They usually drop full schedule by mid-August. My biggest concern is the home non-conference schedule. I just don't want to see the usual two non-D1 games on top of a non-D1 exhibition.

Hopefully an easy tourney trophy.

Pacific will not be easy. The head coach is Damon Stoudamire after the previous coach was fired because of academic fraud. Anyway, they have a really good basketball program.

Saw them play a few times last year against Gonzaga. I know it's Gonzaga but they still didn't look like a great team to me. UAPB should be an easy win. Pacific and Canisius should be good competitive games.

Two more games leaked.
@ HBU on 12/2
@ Rice on 12/22

HBU's gym holds 1,000 people. One of the smallest D1 arenas in the country. We are their only D1 non-conference home game.

How's Strahan coming along? Will it be finished before the season starts? Will it help attract better non-conference opponents in year 1? The fact we are playing @ HBU doesn't make me feel great about it. Hopefully that was part of the deal to get them here for football this year.

D1 Docket is showing Texas State @ Abilene Christian on 12/9/17.
As of now, I haven't heard any home games. I'm not expecting any exciting opponents this year. Construction will be completed Sept 2018, I really hope that helps with home scheduling and the master plan of dare I say...moving to a better conference.

Ugh.

@ HBU and @ ACU....

Nasty. Would like to get to a point where games against recent D1 move-ups in our old conference are only playing us in Strahan.

We played @PVA&M a few years ago as part of our football agreement. We're playing @HBU this year (I assume as part of our football agreement). Why are we not using the same bargaining chip for our body bag games with FSU, Arkansas, Colorado, Rutgers, etc?

We give you a $100k discount for the football game and you give us a home basketball game. I think we could probably make $100k at Strahan with a big name coming in (or close to it).

My guess is that it would be more of a negative(RPI) for their bskball team than a $ savings for a big school like those mentioned.

I like the @Rice gm. Seems a step in the right direction, but let's hope we don't go 2 steps back with several low D2 teams on schedule.

every p5 has 5-7 games vs teams w/ terrible rpi. no reason one of those shouldn't be against us.
