Commit #1:

Kenny Frazier, WR/CB, 5'10", 150 lbs out of Opelousas, LA

Had an offer from Cornell and some minor colleges.

“Kenny is a big time sleeper athlete,” Brecheen said. “He is very fast. He’s not a quarterback for college, but he is playing there for his team this year. He will be a slot receiver or cornerback in college. He’s got very gifted speed and that is always a plus for college coaches. I think he’ll definitely go I-AA, but he may prove people wrong and go DI in the end.”

“Kenny may be one of the most electrifying players in the state this year,” Coach Porter said. “At the same time, he is the most underrated player in the state. He does everything for us. He has played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and defensive back along with returning kicks and punts. Kenny’s 4.3/40 speed and versatility makes him a threat to score every time he touches the ball. He could go down as one of the best to come through Opelousas High School.”

Look for him to immediately vie for an inside WR position and possibly return some kicks/punts with his 4.3 speed.

Commit #2

MICAH HILTS, TE, 6'5" 200 LBS, COLORADO SPRINGS, CO

Had offers from Air Force, Wyoming, Colorado and Northern Colorado, and unofficial visits with New Mexico and Utah State. Had 70 catches for 1,105 yards and 12 TDs during his career, also played basketball and Track.

Played WR in high school, but will translate to TE for the Bobcats. Role will be similar to Brad Miller's tenure during the Fran years with a more explosive offense. Will be utilized heavily with the loss of Keenan Brown to the NFL and no viable options on the roster for immediate impact at TE.

JORDAN REVELS, DE/DL, 6'1" 260 LBS, GALENA NORTH SHORE, HOUSTON, TEXAS

Had offers from Louisiana Monroe, McNeese St, and Texas Southern. Played NT in high school. All State 6A First Team Defense lineman.

Will take some time to adapt to the collegiate game, undersized for the FBS level at only 260 lbs. Played at traditionally strong program, and has a motor that is always running. Will likely redshirt his first year, may see limited action on special teams (less than four games). Carries a frame that could add 30-40 lbs before being serviceable on the two deep, adds depth in the short term.

DEJORDAN MASK, CB/DB, 6'1" 180 LBS, TEXARKANA, AR

Had offers from Memphis, Liberty, and Missouri State, and visits to Arkansas. Runs a 4.50 in the 40.

Played WR and Safety in high school, provides immediate depth at S for Texas State, may see action as a Kick Returner with deceptive elusiveness and speed. Has a great vertical, but lacks size to play safety right away.

Overall, 247 Sports ranks the signing class at 134 nationally and the total number brought in 14. This leaves up to 9 scholarships for potential graduate transfers, current players on the roster, or walk-ons this fall.

Spavital has done a great job of preventing attrition of the previous roster, which gives him more leverage and leeway in where he wants to go later this Spring, Fall and into 2020. His biggest signees were Gresch Jensen and Cedric Case at QB, Jensen will come in and compete immediately with Tyler Vitt for QB1, while Case will battle it out with WJIII for the third string position and more than likely redshirt.

While none of the signees will be day one starters (except maybe Jensen and Dalton Cooper at Oline), most will see meaningful playing time early in the season before conference starts.

Not sure on that. Spav said at the presser these 14 put us up to 83 total. We may only have 2 additional scholarships available.

Agree that Spav and crew have done a good job limiting attrition. There's been none reported that I can recall (knocks on wood).

That's what I heard too, but I seem to recall this class was going to have a full 25 available. I may be mistaken on that, haven't done much homework on that since last fall.

Another one came in while I went to lunch.

Commit #4

KHAMBRAIL WINTERS, CB/DB, 6'0" 180 LBS, ALIEF TAYLOR, HOUSTON, TEXAS

Had offers from the University of Houston and Northwestern State. Had four INTs, 13 pass breakups and a fumble recovery as a SR. All State 6A Honorable Mention

Has a chance to crack the two deep in Fall camp and be an immediate contributor in Nickel or Dime packages. Great cover skills and has a nose for the ball when it is in the air.
