Yah, the first couple days of shade were amusing, but that's pretty petty.

Huh? Someone explain this one for me. We lost 50-10 to NMST that year. Withers was our coach.

He is referencing the bus crash on the way to that game.

Him doing the popcorn? Funny.

But past that? It's just not a good look. Especially after he came out and said "I'm only looking forward, not focusing on the past"

Sure sounds like he can't give up on the past now.

He’s like a crazy ex that just won’t go away. I mean take your 800k and leave. Funny thing is jokes on him, that money should only last him two years in Austin anyways then he will have to move somewhere else.

I said it in EW first few months on the job. He is a career assistant for a reason. You cant coach, tweet, or generally act the way you do as an assistant coach when you are the head coach. You are supposed to be the leader, you are supposed to be mature, you are supposed to be the good cop and let your assistants be the bad cop.

Even without the buyout $$$, with what he made in three years (even with paying his own buyout from JMU and paying his son's first year in college and not even considering his NFL and previous coaching stops), Withers shouldn't have to work another day in his life. You'd be amazed how much $800K will stretch in Austin with the proper financial advisor at the helm for him.

At this point, take a year completely off, enjoy traveling the world with your wife and decide after that if you want to dip your toes back into coaching. He would honestly be a wanted commodity down the road at the FCS level with his JMU success.
