One thing we can say with certainty about Todd Graham is that he would hit the road as soon as he was offered a marginally better job.

Duh!! You are a Mid Major....any coach that comes in there and starts to win is going to get a bigger job...That's just fact...That's how it works...You just hope you can get one to win for a few years and if he does get a bigger job the guy behind him comes into a winning program and keeps it going..

Keeler at Sam Houston is an interesting idea. He has been highly successful over many seasons (so you know it isn't a fluke) and picked up an Eddie Robinson award a couple years ago.

What about old coach Fred from Umhb. Dude has a record of something like 250-40 all time, national titles and played football and graduated from Texas State. His wife is a Texas State graduate as well. I know he’s only been a head coached division 3 football but 250–40 is a nice number and he does a whole lot with a whole hell of a little up there in Belton. He was a DC for Baylor for many years as well as assistant head coach. Also a defensive coach for LSU before UMHB. He’s a huge huge bobcat fan and loves Texas State. Just curious on thoughts

Nah....He’s 69 years old.

We need someone young with ambitions to coach at a P5 program. I hope whoever we hire is at least younger than 50 and preferably younger than 45.

I’d take old, experienced and proven over young and motivated any day of the week in just about any circumstance you can imagine.

And I don’t understand what you are trying to prove with that reference lol. Do I need to post pictures of all the “young and motivated” head coaching hires that have never worked out over the years at the d1 level?

Using age as your number one breaking point when deciding your next head coach probably won’t get you very far.

I think it was slycat (miss that dude) on the Sun Belt board noted that Keeler is in LOVE with his FBS transfers, which certainly makes his recruiting easier... since I think darussians' little gay dog could gain acceptance into SHSU.

Hiring a geriatric old grandpa from a D3 will make us look like an even bigger joke than we already are.

All of the P5 Coordinators that have turned out to be great head coaches were young and energetic. Most get a G5 head coach job and either turn the program around or take it to the next level and get pulled back to the P5 as a HC. That's what we need.
