Re: Recruiting 2019: offers, commits/decommits, transfers
so, among the decommited we lost a dual threat QB, RB, and TE. Not surprising. Our new offense will need different skill sets at these three positions. Dual threat QB doesn't fit at all. RBs will now to be quicker, faster, and good receivers. TEs won't see the field as much. Lucky for us Brown has been used inside and outside. In fact, he should have been used more in the slot last season were he creates problems for the defense matching up.

Will be interesting to see what kind of QB he recruits. Over his time he's had 4 pro style and 5 dual threat QBs commit to him. I am looking forward to seeing what he can do with willie jones and vitt.

The QBs in this system can be pro or dual, running is nice but not nearly as important as accuracy. That was the problem with McKinney, in 3 years of HS football, he never had a 50% completion percentage.

friend of mine just sent me a pic of a recruiting letter from txst for her son - 2020 player. she and her sister are both bobcat alumni, so that wouldn't hurt. be cool to see how that unfolds.

Right. For this system it might be more of a plug and play, as it typically is with the air raid offense. It's easy to learn and Texas is now known for it, along with bad defenses. Just need a QB that can make the reads and throws.

Coach Stitt was at Kingfisher HS in Oklahoma today. Keep an eye on Jett Sternberger, that may have been who he went to see. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/5090104/5babbf813dec2d09307ef7ee

Re: Recruiting 2019: offers, commits/decommits, transfers
Saul... I'm starting to think that is what has happened. Last week, HC Spavital said he's try to keep "all/most of the players" as long as they fit but then just this morning (after a few more de-commits) says he's going to honor commits. So after what... 2-3 de-commits in last week or so and he's saying he'll honor their offers. May be reading into this too much as it is in a recruits best interest to re-open and then decide what is best.
Still think/expect coaching staff to take a quarter of class this early signing and then regroup in December/January to go after what needs help immediately be it JC/grad transfer/FR route. I

I I think that will be the best route for Spav and Co. to go with this recruiting cycle, then hit the ground running for 2020.

Perfect season to recruit JUCOs. We need to win at least 6 games next year to get some momentum. Adding freshman won't normally help you do that.

Oh... I'm not saying go grab 5+ JCs. At most, 2-3 at positions of need. I still think you build with freshmen or even grab a grad transfer. On the recruiting trail, good to see this: https://twitter.com/Keff_C/status/1070832961807900679

Re: Recruiting 2019: offers, commits/decommits, transfers
My thoughts are the team is young and needs a year or two to blossom. A solid group of JUCOs could catapult the team to an even higher level next year - maybe even win 8 games. Sorta like UAB but with a solid group of young players to boot. Next year we can resume recruiting younger players because our now young players will be veterans in 2020. It looks to me like a perfect time to pickup 5 solid JUCOs and a grad transfer or two.

Re: Recruiting 2019: offers, commits/decommits, transfers
The easy answer is find best players possible to help offense so if that is a JC QB or WR or OL... I'm sure they'll consider it.
Just like any recruiting, better hit more times than miss and we've seen a good amount of misses over the years with JCs (Fran and Withers). Should be interesting to see what we sign this fall and then where we go from there.
Are we assuming we have 25 this class?

Re: Recruiting 2019: offers, commits/decommits, transfers
I know everyone wants to win now, but why is everyone so eager to go get JUCO kids?
Out of the probably 20+ that we've signed since 2012, only 1 has been an all-conference player (Mayo).
