Where is this perception coming from that those teams in 2013/2014 were less talented than the last couple seasons? Those teams had far more talent on them than anything we've put out there since. Also, the only Fran year you can make the argument had a tougher schedule was 2012 in the WAC. 2011 we played an FCS schedule and the 2016/2017 Sun Belt was better than the 2013-2015 Sun Belt. Aside from one season Fran teams certainly did not face tougher schedules. Agree. Fran's last two teams had players that were his guys and they were primed to win. Unfortunately he refused to let his OC call the game and lost the players. I think the players called a meeting to discuss and his QB brought is up to him. Then he lost his QB in the process. Once that happened, it all fell apart. He had a stacked team. Hell, Withers started with a HS team. Ridiculous argument.

After that Withers recruiting still remains to be seen it’s plan and simple awad was a fran recruit out of hs (c/o 15) who didn't make his grades, went to juco, came back to txst in the 17 class. but never mind aaron brewer, named 2nd team all conference last year and preseason this year. or that, at best, withers' hs recruits have only completed their soph year to this point.

since brew and awad can both be seen as fran recruits saul are you further solidifying 'run fasters' notion that withers has really not done anything tangible or measurable at this point?

Awad seems like a coincidence. We were in need of a JuCo NT and he fit the bill. Brewer, I believe was a Withers recruit. He, along with Vinson and Daniels were offered a week before signing day.

Nevermind Awad isn't even a projected starter going into the season.

Phratcatbocoloco wrote: since brew and awad can both be seen as fran recruits brewer isn't a fran recruit in any way, shape or form. he was committed to sammy state when fran quit. not sure how committable the offers were for awad, but he held iowa state, arkst and unt offers, and didn't commit until late, so withers had to do some work on him.

Re: Recruiting 2019: offers, commits/decommits, transfers
You Withers haters would have a better argument if you didn't bring up Fran...as if Fran was doing a good job. He sucked. We beat some really, really bad teams (1-11 Southern Miss, 2-11 Tulsa, 4-8 Wyoming, and some absolutely terrible Idaho, GaSt, ULM, and USA teams). All of those games were way close than they needed to be but Fran always played to not lose.
He left the program in terrible shape when he "retired".
If you need to hate on Withers, it's easy. 1 real FBS win his first 2 seasons.
But quit acting like Fran was a good coach.

I like McKinney a lot. His twitter presence alone makes me like him.
Having Willie, Gipson, Vitt, and McKinney all here in the spring should make for an interesting spring at QB.

Re: Recruiting 2019: offers, commits/decommits, transfers
Man, I love fully developed HS lineman recruits.
Good pickup. Big offer list at 11, but 10 are FCS schools (I'll point it out before run faster comes and tells us this is a bad commitment despite the .8416 rating).

That is really a strange offer list...
FCS FCS FCS FCS, then us... then SEC (to be clear though... SC didn't offer him).

As an early enrollee, can he take a left over scholarship from this year?
