Ummm... favorite memories of the wall?

It's a wall. It just stood there!

Not entirely true, it (The Wall) was also instrumental in holding up the ceiling.

Which, I think we all can agree, is kind of a big deal.

Went to post, and the site got all glitchy . . . Posted too many times, and I can't find the freakin' delete switch.

Curse of "The Wall."

I thought it would be of some significance to note that it looks like we are no longer classified as a regional university, but now a 'national' university which means I think we must have started more PHD programs and as you've noted in recent posts our research has increased exponentially in recent years. Though still categorized as 'tier2'... how long do yall think until we can claim tier1 status like those jerks at UofH?

I think Texas State will be a Carnegie R1 within 10 years unless there is some major downturn in our school which I don't see. I know there issues now and enrollment was not record level this year but I think the growth in the research park, the engineering department along with the major growth of health programs in Round Rock keep TXST on the right track. The jump from R2 to R1 is the largest jump. I think everything is fueled for Texas State right now. It took UTA 20 years to make that jump and they have large established engenieering complexes. The bullshit on this board aside Texas needs more Carnegie R1 and American Association of University members and I thought Baylor and U of H were the next best candidates until the latest Bayor scandal that will certainly hurt their chances. I think publics like UH, Texas Tech, North Texas, UTD, UTA have some chance of making AAU in the next few decades. SMU is Texas' highest ranked private right now besides AAU Rice. There is still some stigma but SMU is a very nice school close to the good jobs and opportunities in Dallas. I'd like to see SMU make it someday so that there can be an AAU school in the DFW area.
