Coach Wither's key comments (take aways):
-Develop young talent
-Good recruiting class
-OL Mizerak and Brewer gives leadership OL lacked last year
-Notes WR Luna specifically to getting them back and then notes FR in general
-RB battle Robert Brown and others including true freshmen
-LBs are deepest position
-DL building depth "on both our lines"; getting stronger on DL
-Grow the program, building foundation, take steps to build players

Why not add 2017 Sun Belt Media Day: Texas State Head Coach Everett Withers:
https://youtu.be/twkEp6815Bg
-1st year trying to build program, institute program, buy in from players
-Everyone on same page/culture from admin to trainers to players
-Those that didn't want to buy in left, 1st class was transition class
-31% are freshmen of entire team
-They will have opportunity to play
-Transforming players to a good football team
-Mizerak and London represent TXST very well and the program
-New OC and OL coaches (praised them both to some degree)
Q&A:
-Discussed transition; then a coach (himself) that is off the charts with accountability level "psycho off the charts"
-Group of grinders, and number of dishearten/disinterested players... they were on the outs
-Year 2 Offensively:
-Run ball improvement and committed/physical OL
-Defensively will be better in front 7 and young in secondary
-How much better can we get in our units from 1st training camp to last practice of training camp
-Notes growth in program is most important and the training camp is best place for this to happen
-Noted specifically Mizerak, Brewer, and Rowland are better
-Will be better in OL (is expected)
-QB position and Withers puts a lot of pressure on this position commenting that its the next toughest position to the "Coach's office"
-Talks about all QBs from Williams, Gipson, Jones, Kelley are talented; all given opportunity in training camp
-UTSA he doesn't pay much attention; 1) not in our league and 2) not a rivalry if you only played twice
-Collaborative replay; only G5 conference to do this working with SEC (good to work with a great conference)
-Other freshmen that can make an impact: Good group of freshmen; neat to watch them grow
-Notes: DL Patton; WR Haydel; WR TJ Bedford were noted about athletic skills and learn how to play in college
-This year patience is important; Withers noted not having "any at all" but he knows it is important... then build for next 40 years at TXST and build it to last (HUGE COMMENTS).
-He has to learn some patience...
-In a transformation period in year 2; year 3 got a chance to compete

Some good things to keep in mind but also that this needs to be a growing year for returners to lead young ones and young ones to surprise like Brewer, Morbley, Eastling, Hines, Graham, London.

I hope he's gone after 3. That means we had a decent season this year and an amazing year next year in 2018 and he gets poached. Of course if we have an amazing year and he stays that'd be cool too.

I'm with you on that... Except I think it's a lock he's here for a minimum of 3 years. If he's planning to stay as a HC (which I got to think is his goal at this point), he's going to need more than 1 decent and one amazing year at this level.

Look at Satterfield at App. He's had 1 meh season, and two really good ones. He's still there.

Satterfield is still there at app state, but he doesn't have to deal with Larry Ties and a marketing team that that imho could do a hell of a lot better. That being said, I think he would need two or three successful seasons in a row in order to have a shot at getting a more high profile coaching job with much more pay.

depends on what success looks like. 2 or 3 seasons at 8 or 9 wins would look like nirvana to us, but probably not move the needle in terms of getting hired away. 2 or 3 seasons of 9-11 wins, and he's hired away, no question about it.

satterfield wins double digits again and he won't be around for the bowl game. bet the house on that.

Hell, there were rumblings he was in line for the Ole Miss gig.

He theoretically, he could still be gone before they play us.

Everyone is up for that gig according to SI https://www.si.com/college-football/2017/07/21/ole-miss-coach-candidates-hugh-freeze

...Ole Miss may consider Arkansas native Blake Anderson.
....A likely option could be one of Miles’ former assistants, Frank Wilson.
....Appalachian State’s Scott Satterfield is primed for a bigger job.

He would be one great guru if he could get us 2 or 3, 8-9 win seasons in a few short years :D

I am secretly hoping that Frank Wilson gets poached for the Ole Miss job. That would seriously leave a huge void this close to the start of the season.
