Keep this in mind when you're complaining about not having things that cost money (better coaches, facilities, etc.).

this isn't anything new - it's been harped on here hundreds of times. not sure why you think this correlates to not having money - that money is in our budget, it's just money that comes from the students and the school instead of externally. not having more money for coaches and facilities is more on ticket sales and donor funds - the student/school subsidy isn't going to go away.

Certainly nothing new. I still think a lot of our "fans" turn a blind eye to it. We have a pretty dismal fan base that expects a lot and gives little (in many cases nothing) in return. We also have a ham-handed athletic administration that doesn't actively do much to attempt to fix it.

Student fees account for 70% of our revenue. We'd definitely still be FCS had our enrollment not skyrocketed over the past decade or so. Unless we wanted to play 3 bodybag games a year like ULM.

What is the story behind the 2013 ticket sales?

I will say that overall the numbers are trending in the right direction. Although it doesn't always show on the field, the finances are light years ahead of 2005 TXST. Of course, a lot of that growth has come from increased enrollment and that won't continue forever. At some point, ticket sales, donations, etc will have to catch up for more growth.

pretty sure that was the big jump in season tickets from the bobcat club efforts when chris park was running it - i know he left in aug 2012, but some of the programs he had initiated were still being run [allegedly]. 2012 looks terrible on the w/l record, but we had the upset at houston, the sellout for tech, the shootout w/ la tech, and some pretty competitive games vs nevada, san jose st, and utsa - hell, even the navy game was close through 3q. think the general feeling was pretty high on the program overall right about then. it certainly wasn't because of our home schedule that year

Yeah, I think the 2013 thing was residual Chris Park.

While our numbers are unlikely to get really awesome, I am 100% certain we would be in a better financial situation (read as less reliant on student fees) with a different athletic administration. I've pointed this out elsewhere, but there was actually a DROP in Bobcat Club total donations & I believe total donors from last year to the current year. You can lay that shit at the feet of the good doctor.

We'll always have significant student fee reliance, barring some miracle, but it shouldn't be 70% of the budget. That is on Teis for pretty much being bad at everything.
