Yeah Williams was a medical issue.

Is King confirmed gone? May have just missed it, but don't recall reading that.

King is still on the roster, still on Twitter (as being at TXST #3 WR) and posting about the community outreach they (the team) have been doing.

I'm pretty sure King is still on team as he's still on roster but I think he, Luna, and Tutt didn't participate in spring practices due to injuries.

I've checked campus directory and can find all other freshmen but Kieston Roach. Hoping that he's not been put in system but if he's not listed and its at minimum the 3rd week of summer session 2... ruh roh!?!

Someone needs to check with Keff!

Good find!

Just looking at this roster, here is what is new or something I had not seen over spring/June:
-PWO Tyler Robinson (HS WR) is listed as a CB
-CB Kieston Roach is on roster and Kordell Rogers there!
-Titles of DL are somewhat different than board we've seen with DE Dean Taylor, Mittie. In the end, it may not really matter and could be used to confuse opponents.
-DT are WO Morris, Lanza, and Patton
-As I expected, JC OL Mayes is listed as a guard
-Rowland and King are both listed as guards (little surprised but considering spring comments on no starters at guard; this may be for competition early on in August practices; we need best players playing)
-NTs look right with Awad, Lilly, Daniels (wouldn't be surprised to see Mittie or Lanza for some situational plays)
-ILB and OLB have way more size that last year and depth is a positive... on paper. Should be our best positions on D and we'll need them to play like that. Jakharious Smith needs to add weight but once he's up to 225-230 to become effective with his long arms and length
-OTs are somewhat surprising and I don't expect this to stick. Mizerak only one with real PT. Again, I think staff will be watching how players come out in August to see where they fit at OG and OT.
-P Trey Proffit (notes RS as redshirt, huh).
-QB still has Kelley with new guy Michael Ross
-RB has Jaylin Nelson
-tons of WRs listed (9 are on ship but there are 9 non-ship including Luna)

As noted above, I think the board is closer to accurate on how certain players may be used in certain situations. Remember, last year Withers noted LG Williams had some throws planned and even a few with others but they were never in position to use them.

One thing I do like seeing is more size but its just a few player at every position that has that size. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dean Taylor still on other side with Davis because we need 2-deep and spare. We'll soon shall see.

i'd have to think luna got a ship after last year. not like we're tight on those right now.

2015 signing class will be RS-SO and JRs this year. Here's how that class panned out.

No longer on the team (quit/kick-off):
Kwamane Bowens
Justin Gamble
Chris French
Bo Anderson
L.G. Williams
Bralon Hutchison
Blake Peterson
Willie Williams
Kerry Walker
Nick Bingham
Landon Beck
Josh Uluocha
Dustin McWhorter
Javier Edwards

No longer on the team (eligibility):
Javante O'Roy
Lumi Kaba
Teron Fitzgerald
Tyler Siudzinski
Giuliano Cattaneo

Still on the team:
Anthony Taylor (likely starter)
Jacob Rowland (likely starter)
Jordan Mittie (starter)
Bryan London (starter)
Kregg Lemons (backup)

IIRC Javier Edwards didn't quit.. he just didn't qualify academically. He played JuCo and has now signed with Colorado. We'll be seeing him again pretty soon.. Shame. Our transition to 3-4/Dline wouldn't have been as rough had we been able to keep him.

French is still here, a senior, a back up.

Also, just noticed Nick Wilkins on roster is listed as DE; not DT.

Post Re: 2018: Roster updates, position changes
Official position change information below:

Coach Issac Mooring‏ @CoachMooring 1h1 hour ago
Enjoying a little time on the Grill this afternoon! #JUSTALITTLESOMETHING #GRILLTIME #TXStFB #DLinePride #GOONS #1stGrillinTX #MORE2Come

Saw Coach Mooring post this and then Kumonde Hines tweet this:

The Infamous™‏ @Seven_era 55m55 minutes ago
No invite, but I gotta be 250 smh coach

Then checked Hines twitter page and he notes:
Ku'Monde W. Hines, Richmond Va, "Fear No Man, Eye for an Eye", #FreeDemBoys #RipFallenSoldiers #RipGpa Texas State U Defensive-End

Hines seems to be officially a DE and not just in specific situations. If he's still around 225, I sure hope he's just an athletic freak off the edge that we must use his skills with limited options right now.

This leads me to wonder if Jakharious Smith may move to DE in the future (by his 2nd year) as long as he gains weight. Mainly because his HS football tape had him more of a DE and he created a lot of havoc off the edge with his long length. Similar to Hines coming in about 6'3/210, Jakharious Smith is about same at 6'3/210.

Didn't notice before but C Reece Jordan is listed at 275.

Here is a roster review from twitter handle @swcroundup

https://twitter.com/swcroundup/status/889552188468494336

Breaking Down Texas State's 2017 Roster

The Bobcats have made some changes and additions to their roster in anticipation of the 2017 football season. Everett Withers continues to work to change over his roster and his 2017 group will be among the youngest in college football.

Other changes include:

A number of players, more than in any other program, have bulked up and Texas State's roster will be, physically, its largest since their transition to the FBS.
- Runningback Anthony Taylor is up 20 pounds this season from 185 to 205.
- Tight end Brendon Rushing gained 35 pounds over the offseason to 235.
- Tackle Cedric Gambrell added 35 pounds as well.
- Linebacker Clifton Lewis is listed at 225, a 25 pound gain over last seasons weight.
- Charlie Vatterott gained 25 pounds this offseason and officially moves from tackle to guard.
- Dean Taylor was the largest gainer, putting on 50 pounds this offseason, the defensive end from Pearland is now clocking in at 280.
- Linebacker Easy Anyama comes in with 20 more pounds on his frame.
- Likewise linebacker Frankie Griffin is up 18 pounds.
- Tight end Gabe Schrade is up to 240, after playing at 227 last season.
- Gavin Graham moves from DB to LB and put on 15 pounds to help the transition.
- Linebacker Bryan London is up to 232 after playing at 215 last year.
- Fellow linebacker Hal Vinson comes in at 240, 23 pound heavier than 2016.
- Defensive end Ishmael Davis added 37 pounds this offseason.
- Guard Jaquel Pierce put on 30 pounds this offseason to get to 280.
- Jeff Banks moves from tight end to defensive end and added 28 pounds.
- Defensive end Jordan Mittie is up to 270, a 35 pound gain.
- Marveon Coleman is 25 pounds heavier from the 190 he played at last year. He also moves from safety to linebacker.
- Redshirt freshman Robert Brown put on 25 pounds this offseason.
- Thurman Morbley gained 14 pounds from his 2016 playing weight.
- Tryston Myzerak is 305 after paying at 290 last year.
- Center Aaron Brewer actually dropped 25 pounds from 2016 heading into 2017.
- John Lilly, a nose tackle, has dropped 18 pounds in the offseason.

Several Bobcats will be playing new positions in 2017.
- Robert Brown moves from receiver to running back.
- Gavin Graham moves from defensive back to linebacker.
- Dila Rosemond shifts from corner to safety.

Quite a few 2016 Bobcats aren't returning for the 2017 seasons.
- CB/PR Brandon McDowell from DeSoto is gone.
- Sophomore safety Camyron Brown is no longer listed on the roster.
- Neither is QB Connor White or QB Eddie Printz.
- Linebacker Darrell Antwine is no long on the roster.
- Cibolo Steele product L.G. Williams, a quarterback/receiver combo is no longer listed on the roster.
- Big guard Willie Williams out of Pearland is no longer listed on the roster either.

per EW mediaday interview with ESPN...Robert Brown headed out of spring camp a little ahead of Mayberry (thinks Smith will challenge though)
didn't declare damian williams starter out of spring camp bc he thinks Jones III, Kishawn and Gipson will all challenge

Post Re: 2018: Roster updates, position changes
this is what each position is looking like headed into HBU:

DT: trouble; depth and talent are lacked
DE: I think we'll be fine
NT: is looking pretty impressive for runblock, could use an extra player or 2 for depth
CB: think it looks a lot more solid than what Withers thinks; lots of talent and it's a postion we have some of the most depth
S: CBs may have the edge with depth but I think S will have some of the most talent on the entire field
LB: Anyama and Vinson are both pushing 240lbs as well as at least 4 others in this group, as it's already been said strongest group- but stay healthy
OT: in a slightly better position than OG; I think the talent might be here but the depth is a little more of a concern than even OG.....the one to really watch step up this year will be Washington he may be the biggest sleeper surprise on the team
OG: like OT the depth will also be a struggle but the talent is lacked that OT has..maybe our weakest unit other than DT...we are completely undersized here; I expect big things from Rowland...this is his unit to lead
K/P & PR and KO return: special teams will continue to struggle again; Kaba was really good -- had his fair share of illtimed shanks but we had nobody behind him
I would hate to see this unit struggle more than OG and DT but it very well could... I will consider no fumbles and minimal bobbles on PR or KO return a huge victory
...other than not having anyone to pin punts or send KO through the endzone this year our coverage was a huge concern last year and that needs to improve substantially
QB: I think this unit will also be one of the most pleasant suprises since Nealy; (relative to our standard) this will be a good unit for us this year and a great one for us next year
Expect these guys to put up better stats than Jones next year; the one thing about Jones is that he was doctor Jeckle Mr Hyde... didn't do well under pressure or read a D and I don't think these kids will be like that which will be an improvement for us
What I liked about Jones was on play action passes and called QB runs and plays where he took off running early l

WR: while this was our most concerned unti when we entered the 2016 season after losing all of our players.... I don't agree that this will be our most talented unit but it is without a doubt the one with our most depth
C: i think we'll be just fine here even though we're very undersized
RB: we may not be able to see these guys break through this season with an undersized line but the 2018 recruiting class has a heavy emphasis on OL so that and having Tutt back next season we'll see some pretty incredible things from both RB and QB
TE: we're in great postion here at least for this season
