Voltron... good find. I'm still going with twitter post by same website stating it was an offer. Things likely changed. I think he's a ship guy now until signing day comes and we find out there or Keff surprises us and tells us.

Keff's TXST game has fallen off.

BR Report Jack is indicating it is a commit:

Jack Albrecht‏ @jack_a
Jack Albrecht Retweeted Trejon Hugue
Mr. Hugue puts Texas State at 23 commitments for 2018 football. NSD is Wednesday, February 7th.

DB... not sure he's a CB but he hits like a Safety. Considering how he hits people, may be a OLB like Griffin but we'll have to see.

An interesting tweet post by what seems to be a 2019 recruit in town last week:

Dedrick Wilson tweets this to another 2019 recruit Quinton Sharkey:

I'm not saying Wilson has committed but usually you don't post something like this unless you are considering a commit. Would be huge to get a 2019 already.

Lazy is your explanation. Sometimes I wonder about people. Lazy is your explanation. Sometimes I wonder about people.

I can't argue that TXST is not gaining in 3* for those counting stars... I agree that it doesn't seem we have as much pull this recruiting class but you really need to consider the situation...

Last season we signed 5 guys that were QBs in HS in 2016 and 4 of those were recruited to play QB with Rodgers going to play DB. Of those 4, its likely only 3 are still competing at QB come spring with Nelson moved to RB. Of those 3, 2 of them were 3* and guess what... most teams will only start 1 QB so the odds of those 2 3* players (Kelley, Gipson... thats right Jones was a 2*!) of making a huge difference was not high at the QB position. My point being that while we signed 11 3* recruits last year not all of them will be break out players (in 1st year and possibly not even in 2nd year) so don't get caught up in the rankings of the class.

Note: 3-4 of those 3* didn't get significant playing time (Nelson got small minutes while Roach, Daniels, Kelley, Newman, and Smith redshirted or got even smaller minutes).

I'll take a 1st Team All Defense DL in Kade Langston, who is up there with Keondre Coburn, Ojomo, and Braden Cassity. Link: https://twitter.com/KadeLangston/status/958764150540460033
-You can keep that 3rd star!
-I'll roll with this guy any day!

Trent Mott:
http://www.ncsasports.org/football-recruiting/texas/kerrville/tivy-high-school/trent-mott
-Looks to be a OLB at 5'11/190 running a 4.6 and he has a 100% engine!
-Likely a 2* when they evaluate him.

Trejon Hugue DB:
https://www.hudl.com/video/3/4461412/59bd63a319af53125c312f92
-He will hit someone and hit them hard!
-Listed 6'1/165 DB.
-Likely a 2*.

As of right now, we are 25 ships. If we have these supposed 3 more ships that everyone states Keff noted, could we be planning to offer some recruits late or give to PWOs like Hutch White? I think both are possibilities.

What we did do for those not counting stars is fill holes. We were going into 2018 very thin at DB (S and CB) and right now (assuming we are able to hold on to Taj Bickham) we have 4 S (signed/committed) and 2-3 CBs (Pope could play either S or CB in my book). The OL added what seems to be 2 OTs and 2 OGs (no C, which is still a concern to me with just 2 with experience at position). DL added 5 with Lynch, Schaefer, Ezidore, Calvin and Langston again for depth (consider what happened last season). At WR; we signed 4, 2 TEs (I'm concerned a bit about this group coming back), OLB maybe 1, ILB none (only 4 currently on ship), and K/P 2.

This is our recruiting class barring a surprise or 2. Huge areas on paper we got better... WR (height and speed to burn), OL (seem much longer and most have the size now), DL (depth at all 3 positions), DB (adding depth).

How many 3 stars did Georgia Southern pick up in the first signing period? Wouldn't that be pertinent to compare classes?

I mean, that only makes sense to use in a comparison... unless you are trying to cherry pick data to support a pre-determined position... Right?

i get it that our special teams was atrocious but do we really need 4 kickers on the roster? if we fill the needs on the line we should not be kicking near as much

Phrat...

You are right that going into this signing day we would have 4 kickers on ship but I have a feeling one of the returners is graduating this spring. I'm thinking Sherman may be graduating.
