Everyone on this board has their thing.

Saul abhors quotations.
Someone loves to make posts that are 40,000 words plus.
tptotptotptptoptot likes to create names that cannot be pronounced.
taxman likes to pretend to be an expert on all things.
bleed gold likes to pretend to be a Catholic priest.
darussian likes having little gay dogs.
The list goes on.

It's what makes this place fun. Everyone has their own thing.

Another recruiting update by the numbers: Based on 24/7 offers

Offers: (Not committed elsewhere)
QB-1
RB-2
TE-9
WR-13
OT-23
OG-9
C-1
DE-5
DT/NT-7
ILB-3
OLB-8
CB-5
S-11
ATH-3

We have offered 127 recruits to this point.

Usually, I consider we recruit 3-4 players for a spot so using that as a measure (3 recruits minimum per spot we need filled)...
QB-only 1 offer tells me we are considering taking a QB
RB-Like QB considering taking a RB
WR-Because of our need for speed and talent, I'd say we'd take up to 4 but its likely 3 (unless other PWOs earn ship)
TE-We take 2 minimum (since signing JC TE, don't see more needed)
OL- We're taking no less than 5 but with 1-2 JCs offered (remember, we don't have 1 senior OL on OL this coming year)
DE-I think this is the difficult one to know because I still think Patton will play DE even though he was listed at DT on 24/7 last year and even Jakharious Smith was listed DE but will play OLB so... I'd guess we'll take up to 2 simile to OL (with no senior on DL)
DT/NT-I would think 1-2 and 1 being the most realistic.
ILB- Similar to QB and RB, we have offered 3 so I would think only 1
OLB- I'm surprised we have offered 8 with likley up to 7 on roster but Anyama is a senior (I am wondering if someone is transferring). With 8 offers, one would have to think we are looking for 2 in this class but I could see us taking 1.
CB-I'd think we would want 2, especially if Kordell Rodgers moves to WR with only Roach coming in as a true CB this season.
S- Honestly, I'd say we need 3 and based on 11 offers... I think that is likely what we are doing with only 3 coming back the 2018 season.
K- I have to believe we'll take 1 at minimum.

I'm still wondering how many ships we will have in 2018 class since we have only 13-14 seniors, can't touch those ships from those that transferred (cannot go back directly into signing classes) and while there may be a few mid-year ships... it would be less than a handful.

Let me know what you think or if you have heard a number of ships for 2018.

You would have hated the olden days on this board when you were not limited to just 3 quotes and some threads got ridiculous with dozens of impeded quotes. Those were the days.

Another recruiting update by the numbers: Based on 24/7 offers

Offers: (Not committed elsewhere)
QB-3 ; seems we are thinking to offer a QB now as compared to last update with 1 QB offer
RB-2; same as last time
TE-10; 1 new offer
WR-20; 7 new offers
OT-30; 7 new offers
OG-14; 5 new offers
C-1; same
DE-9; 4 new offers
DT/NT-9; 2 new offers
ILB-4; 1 new offer
OLB-10; 2 new offers
CB-5; same
S-13; 2 new offers
ATH-4; 1 new offer

We have offered 152 recruits to this point.

This last month of recruiting has taken a jump from the first wave of offers in March/April (mostly 3* and some 4* offers). We are now looking at mostly 3* and 2* players, which really shouldn't be that big a surprise. We will likely be a 2* and 3* recruiting class. Stars aside, hopefully these summer June camps will begin with some commits to follow here.

He's on the roster of signees from the website.

Can't get anything from social media. Nothing posted on FB or Twitter for 2/3 years.

Grades maybe? Oversight on website?

Speaking of grades:

JUCO OL Pesa Tupa will not be joining #TXST despite signing with Bobcats in spring. I'm hearing it was a grades issue.

Right now, the biggest concerns for signees are OL and that transfer QB. Since he's on campus already, I am now concerned about the OL.

Pesa Tupa not making it in hurts my heart, because I did like him.

Rev... exactly. No doubt Pesa would have come in and competed for a starting guard position. Now, we are back to Spring game where Withers noted we didn't have a starting guard after spring practices. Ugh!!!

While I wasn't expecting any player including JCs to turn around the entire OL, they were signees that Withers and Co... brought in with only 1-2 other likely guards signed by them in Jaquel Pierce and incoming Carlile.

Numbers alone, it hurts. This makes me think Mayes is definitely going to be looked at guard due to his size and ability to run block well.

Fellow Bobcats...

I wasn't too shocked to see the QB leave for UNLV after our QB/OC coach went to Miss. St. and after realizing that Costilla/York de-committed after only meeting our new OL coach about the week before... well its not too surprising.

That being said, I am hopeful we'll begin to see some commits come July.

Here are a few reasons:
A&M has 13
UT has 11
OSU has 15
OU has 10
BU has 15
KU has 12
TCU has 11
UH has 16
TT has 13
SMU has 13
Rice has 13

Then theres our real competitors:
App. St. has 8
UTSA has 6
Georgia St. has 1
Georgia Southern has 2
ULM has 1
Tulsa has 3
Tulane has 3
Troy has 4

What is my point?
With an early signing period this December, its good to see the P5s getting to half of their recruiting classes because that would mean certain positions may be filled by December with the early signing period so players that were 2nd or 3rd or even 4th on their lists will have to move on to their other offers.

Also, G5s that we would likely compete will regularly are just 5-6 commits ahead. So I don't see any concerns... at this time.

You can argue that SMU, Rice, and UH are G5s but the sooner they are full the better for us and other G5s. Consider this, those schools that have half of their classes full means those positions they have or are filling is half done and maybe at certain positions already full. I see that as a good thing for us.

Just my perspective. I've been wrong before.

11 of the 2017 signees committed before the end of June last year. I'm pretty surprised to see us still sitting at 0 right now for 2018.

We did have a huge influx of commitments right around this time last year. I think 7 guys committed between 6/21 and 6/30 last year. Maybe we are due for a few this week and next.
