He's committed to the track team.

Ouch. Losing in-state players to UNLV is no good.

Saul.. check your messages as I sent you one.

In regards to this QB, I'm not surprised in the least he de-committed and I'm not certain he fit Wither dual QB preference.

I'm starting to wonder if we (Coach Withers and Kuhr) were as interested in keeping him.

Why?
His hudl has NO run plays or even 1 QB read play in it. I'm not even sure why he's listed as a dual threat QB. Hudl: http://www.hudl.com/profile/5409456/stacy-conner

So why would we want a QB that doesn't run the ball? Wither has specifically stated that we need a QB that can run and throw. All I see on Conner is a pro-style QB. Other than being long, nothing else says dual threat.

I don't care if he's a 3*. If he's not our "type" of QB, it doesn't matter. That is how I see it.

Also, the next question is how many 2018 ships do we have? I only count 11 seniors and possibly a few grad transfer ships to play with (McDowell, Guidry, Berry). Remember, we can't just sign kids because others transferred and if we can they can only be used in certain ways. My point is if we only have say 20ish ships instead of the usual 25 ships... could this be because we need oh #1 more OL (we've offered almost over 30 total OL while defensively have offered less than 30 total). It tells me we want 4-5 OL, 2 TEs minimum, 2-3 WRs, 2-3 DL, 1-2 OLB, 1-2 ILB, 2-3 CBs, 2-3 S.

I would not be surprised that we offer a few QBs in the next week.

Time to get some other 2018 QB offers out there. Chance Amie, John Holcombe, Aaron Allen, and Jordan Cooper all in-state dual-threat QB's that have other decent offers.

I think if we get 4-5 wins this fall, he'll stay. If we win one game only, he will start looking elsewhere. He's a good "man of his word" type of player, so it would take something drastic for him to de-commit.

how many conversations have you had with him?

He is coaching him in high school as well as ubering him to each game.

Thought he was a dude if his word Taxman? What so drastically happened?

First transfer that I'm guessing we'll take as a ship from Ok. St.:
Keff Ciardello‏
@Keff_C
Keff Ciardello Retweeted Caleb Hall-Abbott
#GoPokes DE Caleb Hall-Abbott announces that he is transferring to #TXST. 6'1", 240-lbs, freshman from Waxahachie.

A little small as a DE (granted Nick Wilkins is 6'2 and Odiari was 6'0) but it should be interesting to see if he stays at DE or maybe loses weight to move to ILB or OLB, assuming he has the speed to play it. If not, add more weight to play DE.

There are only a few ways to use those extra ships we have from transferred players last spring (currently my count with new 2017 TE commit is 72 ships out of 85 total; if close that is about 11-13 ships give or take a missing ship ). Those options are taking transfers from other 4 year schools, give ships to walk-ons or preferred walk-ons like Watts, Rubin, Krawcyzk, and Lanza, or I would think mid-year players is other option. I don't believe those ships can ever be placed back into 25 signing class until given out another way.

Still thinking Luna and Ripley earn them this summer (note they are seniors so those ships could be used for 2018 class... would be smart move I would think). Remember, we are bringing in close to 10 Preferred Walk-ons this coming year compared to 2 last year so I'm sure some are hoping to earn some of those open ships by end of first season.

Thanks Saul! Lets hope he's the O'Diari type! As he was a walk-on from TT and either earned the scholarship at TXST or was offered one.
