Guys... I wish I could be more optimistic.

I'm not going to give this spring much of a true evaluation of where players sit. I'll wait til August when 290lbs Macadory and Momerelle join with 270lb Cooks and 260lb Moore (my guess is Moore dropped weight for HS wrestling reason).

I still think we'll need 2-3 of these 4 to be on 2 deep.

The o-line is improving but admittedly had a long way to go.
Heitmeier is down to right around 300lbs while most of the others have put on weight. They are all bigger and stronger. And, they’ve all been coached by Mateos for a year now (or close to it). Mateos, Kuhr and HCEW have all talked about how we are now practicing situations instead of fundamentals and techniques. That’s progress.
Really bummed about Foster. His situation appears to be pretty serious.
The incoming guys will certainly add needed depth. Remember what HCEW said in his Spring presser about freshman phenoms and playing right away. I’m not expecting too much more than depth since it is such as significant change from HS to D1. And these guys are still young. AB’s Summer program is intense and I hope the newbies are prepared.

Gotta respond here: I agree on what Withers said but he had 2 OL freshmen start most of season yet he says this OL class is better than any he's brought in. I really doubt he can say that and not believe 1-2 of these guys will have a shot to be not only in 2 deep but start. Especially if Foster's issue is serious, which would suck.

I'm asking my guy to see if he's a ship or not. I do think we needed another TE but expected a JC guy so we'll see.

have to think he's a pwo, w/ a legit opportunity to get a ship. he's the definition of a borderline prospect.

@CadeRathbone
I am EXTREMELY blessed and excited to announce I have committed and will be continuing my football career at Texas State University!! Thank you to most importantly God for this opportunity and everyone thats supported me along the way! #TxSt22 #Committed @CoachMayesTxSt

He’s another prospect who didn’t produce big stats as a junior, but it’s worth noting that he was playing tight end for the first time (he was primarily an offensive tackle for Reedy’s JV team as a sophomore), and his school was playing in its first varsity football season in 2016 and had an all-underclassmen roster. Despite making only 6 catches, he impressed the coaches of District 13-5A enough that he was voted a second team all-district tight end (the aforementioned Nic McTear made first team). He’ll need to get bigger, of course, but with another season of experience at the position and with his entire team returning this fall, he’s got a chance to have a good season and play his way into the D1 football ranks at one level or another.

Nick Castillo's tweets makes me think he's a scholarship player and not a PWO.
