Post Withers hires new Co-OC/RB coach - Zak Kuhr
Who on staff left for Zak Kuhr?

From CoachingSearch.com:

Texas State: A source tells CoachingSearch that Zak Kuhr will coach running backs and serve as co-offensive coordinator at Texas State. Kuhr coached running backs at Rutgers last year and held the same role under Everett Withers at James Madison.

Zak's twitter reflects this.

Coach Antoine was the RB and TE coach. I wonder if he left or is just going to focus on TE.

We didn't have a Co-OC and Antoine is RB/TE coach.

Haven't seen anything to indicate Antoine is going anywhere.

NCAA limits FBS coaching staffs to 10. By my count we already had 10:

1 Withers HC
2 McCray DC/ILB/AHC
3 Douglas S
4 Montinar CB
5 Santucci OLB
6 Smith DL
7 Elliott OC/QB
8 Antoine RB/TE
9 Mayes OL
10 Fleming WR/ST

there is a strong chance it goes to 11 in april. some hc are hiring additional coaches as an analyst today, w/ the intention of making them a position coach at that time. no clue if that's the thought process here and the wording got out early, or if we're swapping out a coach.

sure would be nice if we had someone who knew what was going on in jowers. lack of info is such a beating.

The best thing about this guy is you can pronounce his name like one of the people from The Californians.

It would be nice if Antone left and took his basketball coach wife. She's almost worse than the idiot she replaced!!! The football Antone never seemed to be as excited to be here like the rest of the new staff. Lose the sense of entitlement folks, we ain't from Austin.

That's a negative. The coach that got the boot was Troy Douglas, as per Keff

Douglas was the late hire after John Wiley stepped down at the beginning of the summer.

He played with Withers at App and coached with him at UNC. Sounds like one of them did the other a favor coming here for a year.

i had a 3 hour layover yesterday in Atlanta - I talked to 3 different groups of Jmu alum and eventually the subject came back to withers (kinda obvious with me wearing my Texas state shirt). They all said - and I quote "withers is great at recruiting but he can't coach".

Please don't shoot the messenger - just saying...

Sooooo, you're saying we've got a Coach that can't Coach . . . That is sooooooo TXST.

Any chance we can hire the current JMU Coach?

He can be COO as long as he hires good coaches and lets them run the team.

When I saw all the people praising JMU for winning the National Championship and Withers for doing such a great job, my devil's advocate take was "you could also look at it from the standpoint that he got them to the playoffs twice but couldn't win it himself. It took someone else to get them over the top." 8) 8) 8)
