Post Withers/TXST disrespecting former players?
Orakpo and others are taking to Twitter to call out the staff for not promoting pro day and handing the departing players their jerseys instead of framing them as was done in the past. Might seem trivial but never good to rock the boat with happy alumni and former players.

JMO:

1.) Bigger fish to fry on a time crunch.

2.) I realize it'S all interrelated, but if the two are at all mutually exclusive, I'd rather them promote the program the way they have been.

2.) Framing stuff is expensive.

This kind of crap is why I'm not on twitter. When I see a comment like this, my gut reaction is "get over it, Francis." Stop looking for reasons to be offended all the time--it diminishes the legitimate offenses. I get disrespected all the time due to the nature of my job, and they are whining about whether a jersey was framed. Be a fucking adult and let it roll off your back. You'll be a happier person.

What I suspect happened:
They've been focused on other stuff and got a late start planning. That pro day stuff should be logistically handled by the athletic department, unless maybe it is left to football operations or something. In that case, so much staff turnover may mean that they weren't aware of the framing in the past. As a result, they found that they could not get the framing done in time for pro day. In addition, there was probably less promotion due to coming off a 3-9 season with no NFL prospects. In past years, we've had NFL prospects that drove more interest & prompted the department to put on more of a show.

Agree with the comments ... and there are definitely bigger fish to fry.

BUT...things like this are important and this was a miss by the new staff. Forgiveable...yes, but a missed opportunity in my opinion.

Go away. How many games did Orakpo actually play? If we had a tradition of winning on ANY level I might see ur point. And, no, it's not important.

Hopefully you saw the response to this.

Some seniors took their jersey after the season, while others didn't. So, if they couldn't do frames for all---they decided not to do any.

Predator,

Yes...just saw it and it does make sense.

Parrot...relax dude. I am a huge fan of the new staff, and as I said...there are bigger fish to fry.

Players probably feel disrespected. Both sides should have handled it better but honestly the lack of coverage is because we went 3-9 in the sun belt. What prospects do we really have? Also how hard can it be to get some jerseys framed. Just take em back and do it.

I think the issues arose from the lack of coverage from the AD to let media outlets and students know about it. There were a total of 22 players (former and graduating) at Pro day, and 16 team scouts.

Bellard impressed and Mims II ran a 4.26 & 4.28 (hand timed), so they rounded to 4.35 to make up for F.A.T. they would have at the combines.

With the jerseys, they usually aren't presented until the Spring game, which gives the AD or Football operations enough time to get them framed. I think that's why the players felt disrespected, because they saw what we've been doing for 5-6 years now and then they are handed one in person......here you go, have a nice life type of deal. Was my impression.

Mims officially ran a 4.38.
