Class of '16 LS Justin Warner and OL Colton Williams have accepted PWO positions at #TXST.

Preferred Walk-ons = PWO.

Also, a new offer to OT Katy Hayden Howerton:

Blessed to receive my 12th offer from Texas State!

Assuming we were correct in that TXST had 25 ships for the 2016 recruiting class and we still have 2 left, its interesting that we have yet to use those 2 ships. It could be the coaches plan to have players earn them in summer/august workouts rather than give them out to players this late. Lets be honest, any players still available were not offered DI ships or have academic concerns of being eligible. Williams noted the chance to earn a ship at TXST and liking TXST as reasons he decided to commit to TXST.

This is a very different style of pursuing players/recruits than Fran's style. We have seen multiple players 3* to 1* either quit (Hopkins, Kingsley, Summers, Moore, Bowens), transfer (Williams, Lucas, Jamel James), or never play at TXST (Woodland, Bean, Jamel James) for so many reasons (good ones, poor ones, and overall odd ones like Woodland and Jamel James). Fran's staff took risks on recruits/players and we've seen just as many failures (listed above) than successes to this point.

Coach Withers' style seems to be quite different so far by signing players he feels can help the team (recruits that meet needs, letting some recruits/commits go or request a gray-shirt, or no longer pursuing someone). Since that time, they have been aggressively searching for players in multiples ways (graduating student-athletes, preferred walk-ons, and to this point who knows... DI-AA transfers, JC preferred walk-ons, or 4-year transfers that may need to sit out a season are all possible options we have yet to see).

It seems we still need depth at WR and DL (OL with 8-9 current linemen, then add 4 new players and a preferred walk-on). Can't wait to see the spring roster! It may be telling with position changes into new offensive and defensive schemes. Maybe actually show their true weight as well!

Of the 4 OL that have left the team, I believe 2 are graduating (Hoskins in summer/Lambert in May) while Mackey and Schoenborn are transferring. I wonder how quickly we can use Hoskins & Lambert's ships? Mackey and Schoenborn's ships are likely not available until 2018 mid-year or 2018 class. However, the true goal of APR and use of scholarships is to graduate student-athletes and these 2 are graduating so I do wonder when their ships could be used. Could they be used for 2017 class? I'm thinking they can. Then consider that Williams, Lucas, and Knight's ships should be able to use by mid-year of 2017 or for the 2017 recruiting class. If we still have 2 ships from the 2016 class still available, we're talking as many as 5-7 ships available for 2017 class (Hoskins/Lambert/Williams/Lucas/Knight and 2 ships left from 2016 class still open) that do not even count toward the usual 25 ships for a recruiting class. Keep in mind that right now QB Eddie Printz and WR Marchie Murdock are 2 of those ships already taken.

The reason I bring this up is during Coach Withers' signing class press conference, Coach Withers' noted we had ships available and would look for another 4-5 weeks after signing the 2016 class. Seems like a lot of ships to try and pitch to preferred walk-ons to build depth on this team for the 2016-2017 season.

my guess is that transfers would count against the 85 of the team, but not the 25 of any class.

list of junior day attendees. so f*ing annoying that keff refuses to use rivals or 247 profiles and insists on hudl alone.

just going off of star count, this is an incredible starting point. we didn't have this many *** rated players visit san marcos in fran's entire tenure.

Saul.... so Keff is pissing you off? He's really the only guy giving us constant info (for free) but I can understand some websites may be better to provide than hudl clips.

Some notables to watch that were offered based on 24/7:
RB PK Kier from Middlebrook (VA)- he's coming from a long ways away so that alone should be someone to watch
TE Parker Eichenburger
DT Kobie Whiteside
CB Tyon Merchant
CB Myles Jones
S Quincy Addison

I'm not expecting a commit but I've seen other surprising things before. Good to see we have a few offered players attending and I wouldn't be surprised to see a few others offered as well.

wouldn't say he's pissing me off, as i don't pay for his work. but he's horrid at formatting his work, and always has been. the hudl only thing is annoying because it ignores two of the biggest pieces of recruiting info: rating and offers.

that said, he is putting in the work when no one else is, especially on the recruiting front. so that's a mark on the plus side. but you know where we live as far as coverage goes, so beggars and choosers and all that.

Per Keff's twitter account from North Texas blog:
http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/blogs/entry/160-daundrey-bradley-headed-to-texas-state/

North Texas Eagle twitter account:
It looks like former #MEANGREEN WR D'Aundrey Bradley is headed to Texas State.

Considering this young man has some past history with the law, it seems like an interesting yet odd player to bring in considering Coach Withers is all about academics and hard work. I'm not trying to condemn this young man but he better "bring it" in the classroom and on the field. Hopefully, he's learned from that experience. Based on what I've read in blog above, it does not seem Bradley was at UNT this 2016 season (as they state "former UNT football player" and indicate he was with the team for only one season 2015-2016) so maybe we "transferred/left" UNT to go JC? Its unclear at this time and I've searched his name to see if any JC information was found - nope. Personally, I think we may be desperate for WRs that can help immediately. If he was at a JC this past season, he would be eligible to play immediately compared to being at a 4-year institution. Again, it does not say he was offered a ship so he could be walking on. I'm sure Keff plans to look into it. Just an FYI.

Not to stereotype but Cedar Hill isn't the most affluent city and I could easily see any money strapped kid attempt this. All kiddos make mistakes given their particular struggles. Just have to have faith that Withers and his staff are recruiting character and can actually reach them. I will be rooting for this kid.

We didn't have one on our area when I was 18. Not even a Kmart close buy. Rural living
