Should we have two DC's on our football team?
Should we return to one DC with one defensive scheme or Stay with the two DC system? I personaly would like to see us return to the 4-2-5 with one DC. I say staff our defense with 4-2-5 coaches and recruit better corners. IMO Our offense was alot better this year. Had we only improved our pass defense with the 4-2-5 I honestly think we would have made a playoff run.

1 DC < 2 DCs < 3 DCs <......< 1,000 DCs
Haven't you ever heard that more is better?

Could you imagine a 1000 DC trying to make a decision between plays?
Just have 1 GREAT DC, a simple defense, and run it extremely well.
These players have enough worries with all they have to learn in school, why complicate matters with complicated defensive schemes?
Yes, mix it up and run it well, but don't mix it up to much.
I think Baliff had a good balance.
I think the problem with the Desert Swarm (and why nobody uses it today), it that it is too complicated for the players to learn within the timeframe they have to learn it, therefore, you have a bunch of players out on the field that look like they don't understand their roles.
I would be very interested in hearing from players on their opinions of the different defenses as related to them learning them and actually UNDERSTANDING them fully to where they could execute well.

Regardless of how many DCs we have or what scheme we are running we need at least one DC with some DC experience. We need someone to lead these kids and bring qualities beyond just Xs and Os. Our defense was a mess last year and it wasnt just playcalling. It was all the little intangibles and thats just what a experence coach would bring.

I agree. Also a seasoned DC knows what to look for when looking for recruits. He knows what type of players will fit his system and make it better.

having Co-OC's, Co-DC's, etc. just shows a HC that can't make decisions.

In this case its done to attract coaches. Sometimes a Head Coaches best recruiting tool as far as hiring coaches is to offer a promotion of title. In this case he chose to have Co-Cordinators so he could hand out as many titles as he possible can. Also he may have been able to split the extra pay of being a cordinator between two people.

That is how I understood it as well. There is only one cordinator actually calling the plays on either side.
