Feel like I'm in third grade being convinced that, yes, I too can make a change! I feel so liberated!
Yeah, I agree. Too funny.
How about this: Texas State: Sucking hind tit since 1899 ((kidding))
Seriously, the "Gold Standard" sounds pretty cool but there has to be something catchy and not too overstated. I think Gold Standard is a stretch or overstaed. Are we gold compared to Rice in academics...prolly not. I'll get my three brain cells on this and see what the four of us come up with.

i feel like i've gotten as good of an education as I could have gotten as a regular student at rice. honestly. they probably have more opportunities that I could have taken advantage of, but i'm a firm believer in that college is what you make of it.
but then again, I also believe that you could get a great education by combining the public library and the workplace.

Max, I could not agree with you more. I don't make any apologies for earning my BA at Texas State. I LOVE my alma mater and I think I received a great education there. And, once again, you're spot on about an education being "what you make of it." In truth, I'm proud as hell being an alum. Hell, my degree from Texas State is my meal ticket and dammit I eat pretty well judging by my doctor's orders to "cut back" on the chow, but I digress.
My earlier point about Rice could have been stated better, less clumsily. No offense intended to my fellow Bobcats.

Re: "The Rising Star of Texas"
Thought i would bump this back up. So I got my monthly receipt of payment letter from the university and saw the seal "The Rising Star of Texas".
Although I see it every month since this slogan began, I thought to myself "really?, isnt about time we change that?". I mean, we busted the 30k bubble, joined the WAC, got a big name coach and staff, add numerous programs, have so many new buildings i would get lost on campus, upgraded the stadium, this list goes on... heck we even have TWO fansites now!
Thoughts?

"The Rising Star of Texas" = We used to be at the bottom, but not anymore. Nevertheless, we're not at the top yet, so look elsewhere first if you must.

Re: "The Rising Star of Texas"
I've thought since the first time I saw it that it should be "The Risen Star of Texas"

Re: "The Rising Star of Texas"
the rising star means that we are growing as a school, and just because we have made some serious progress, i am not ready to admit we have "risen". we have a long way to go, and i hope this schools never stops rising.
