Texas Tech Kicks Off 2011 Football Schedule

The Texas State Athletics Department announced Saturday that its 2011 football schedule is complete and includes six home games, two contests against NCAA FBS Schools and eight games against SLC teams. Bobcat fans can purchase their season tickets beginning Feb. 1.

A&M Corpus Christi Toppled

Senior Tony Bishop dominated the floor tonight, coming off the bench and scoring 20 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and two blocks to lead Texas State (8-11, 3-2) men’s basketball to a 73-62 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (7-13, 2-4 SLC) at home.

Bishop notched his fourth double-double of the season and 12th double figure performance. Senior Cameron Johnson just missed a double-double with 13 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Senior Ryan White tallied 20 points and five assists, while junior John Bowman had 10 points.

Texas State led by as many as 11 points in the second half on seven occasions. The Bobcats ended the game on a 10-6 run. Texas State’s final 10 points in the game came from the charity stripe. Ryan White led the way making 7 of 8 attempts, after being intentionally fouled by the Islanders. AMCC came to within seven points with 1:22 remaining on the clock, but the Bobcats were clutch at the line connecting on 10 of 12 free throws down the stretch. Read more

Baseball Viewed As Numero Uno!

For the second consecutive season, the Texas State baseball team has been voted first in the Southland Conference Preseason Polls. The Bobcats earned top billing in both the SLC Preseason Coaches’ Poll and the SLC Preseason Sports Information Directors’ Poll, both of which were released from the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

TXST takes part in RecycleMania 2011 challenge

Texas State University-San Marcos will take part in RecycleMania 2011, a 10-week recycling competition between universities nationwide to see which can collect the most recyclables.

RecycleMania promotes recycling and waste management awareness by encouraging campuses to reduce, reuse, and recycle. The event takes place Jan. 23-April 2. This year Texas State is submitting weights for paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum and recycled cell phones for the RecycleMania contest.
