T. Boone Pickens Coming to Texas State

Oil businessman T. Boone Pickens will be the keynote speaker at one of four commencement ceremonies to be held at Texas State University-San Marcos Dec. 18 and 19 in Strahan Coliseum.
Pickens will speak during the 10 a.m. ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 19. Degree candidates from the College of Liberal Arts and the University College will attend the Saturday ceremony. Read more
Bobcats End Season at NCAA Championships, Fall to Longhorns 3-0

Texas State volleyball ended its season at the NCAA Austin Sub Regional after falling to No. 2 Texas, 3-0, at Gregory Gym in Austin. The Bobcats made their seventh trip to the championships after claiming the 2009 Southland Conference Tournament title to earn the automatic bid out of the SLC. The Bobcats end their season 22-13, 13-3 in the SLC. Read more
SMU takes down Bobcats

Despite career-high performances by J.B. Conley, Tony Bishop and Uriel Segura, the Texas State men’s basketball ball team came up short in a pair of second-half rallies as SMU hung on and defeated the Bobcats 94-86 at Moody Coliseum on Monday night.
Conley, Segura and Bishop each scored 18 points for the Bobcats as they led a pair of Texas State rallies in the second half.
SMU jumped out to an early 15-5 lead as Derek Williams and Mouhammad Faye each scored five points on a pair of free throws and a three-point basket by Williams and a jumper and three-point shot by Faye. Those two three-point baskets were a sign of things to come in the opening half as the Read more
Bobcat Bassmen place 2nd Regional Finals

I won’t lie, when I first developed the idea for this blog, I figured that I would write about rugby, water polo, and maybe rodeo. However, I was shocked to discover the number of bass fishing clubs and college fishing tournaments. Every year, students from around the country represent their schools and fish competitively on the National Guard FLW College Fishing tournament. Winners get scholarship money, and a chance to compete for the Forrest Wood Cup. Read more
Bobcat Soccer Clubs Advance to National Tournament

Last month, the Men’s and Women’s Club Soccer Teams traveled to Phoenix to compete in the the National Soccer Championships.
The tournament had a round-robin first round, where teams were placed into pools. If a team wins a match, they are awarded three points, and the loser gets zero. If they tie, each team receives one point. The awarded points are totaled and the top two teams advance to the championship bracket, while the third team plays in the Consolation Bracket. Read more
