Texas State recorded hits early in the game, but it wasn’t enough to hold off McNeese State as the Cowgirls upset No. 2 seed Texas State 3-2 to win the 2010 Southland Conference Championship and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Regional.

Strong Showing to Start of SLC Tourney

Texas State scored the second most runs by a Bobcat team since 2002 in a Southland Conference tournament game as they handled UT Arlington 10-1. Allyce Rother and McKenzie Baack led the charge for Texas State with two home runs worth a total of seven runs. The Bobcats now advance to face McNeese State tomorrow at 4 p.m. Chandler Hall earned another win as UTA’s Terry Lyles was saddled with the loss. Read more

Lady Demons this Weekend

This weekend will be the last regular-season home contests for the Class of 2010, as Texas State closes out its home slate with a three-game series versus Northwestern State, May 1-2. Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.; while Sunday’s single game will start at noon. Senior Day announcements will be held at the conclusion of Sunday’s game. Read more

Houston in Extra Innings

A ninth-inning rally by Houston (24-21) propelled them to a 3-0 victory over Texas State (21-19) tonight at Bobcat Field.

Anne Marie Taylor (6-5) suffered the loss tonight giving up three runs in 1.0 innings pitched. Five different Bobcats registered hits tonight, with six runners reaching base. Read more

Takes Two from UCA

April 5, 2010

The Texas State softball team hit the field with a brand new attitude today as they beat Central Arkansas 7-4 and 6-0 to sweep the double header. The pair of wins ends the Bobcats two-game skid as they improve to 19-15, 14-4 in Southland play while the Bears fall to 14-24, 4-10.

Leah Boatright went 6-for-8 from the plate today to bat .750. Boatright tallied five RBI and two runs. McKenzie Baack and Anna Hernandez both finished 3-for-7 from the plate. Baack recorded three RBI and three hits while Hernandez had two doubles and two runs. Read more
