Bobcat Receives Team USA Invite

Sophomore pitcher Carson Smith has received an invitation to participate in the Team USA trials beginning on July 6 at the National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
A total of 38 players from around the country have been selected to take part in the six-day tryout before the roster is whittled to 22 players on July 12.
Smith learned of the news on Thursday morning.
“Coach Harrington called me this morning and told me that I made the tryout,” Smith said. “I’m excited to get out there with the opportunity to play for Team USA.” Read more

The Texas State baseball team is tied for first place in the Southland Conference and is on the brink of claiming its second-straight regular season title. The Bobcats close out the 2010 season at home this week when they play host to UT Arlington in a three-game series, beginning Thursday night. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. and the series will continue Friday at 6:30 p.m. and conclude Saturday at 1 p.m.
Texas State is offering a buy one, get one free ticket package for both Thursday’s and Friday’s game. Saturday, all kids 17 and under will receive free admission. Throughout the entire series, Bobcat concessions will offer $1 hot dogs and snow cones. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Texas State Ticket Office at 512.245.2272. Read more

Cats Can’t Hold Off TCU, Lose 10-5

A six-run second inning by No. 7 TCU was too much to overcome for a ranked Texas State squad and with a 10-5 victory, the foe completed the series sweep over the No. 29 Bobcats Wednesday night at Bobcat Field.
