Spring Practice Schedule

The Texas State football team begins spring practice this Monday, February 26, under fourth year-head coach Brad Wright.
The Bobcats are coming off two straight winning seasons and second consecutive National Top 25 ranking after Texas State finished the 2009 campaign with a 7-4 record and ranked 25th by The Sports Network and the FCS Coach’s final polls.
Texas State returns six starters on offense, who are headlined by junior guard D.J. Hall, a two-time All-Southland Conference selection, and sophomore Steven Kinney on the offensive line and wide receivers Da’Marcus Griggs and Darius Bolden. In addition, part-time starting offensive linemen Jason Hannan and Winston Ruelas, along with former 1,000-yard rusher Karrington Bush also return.
Defensively, the Bobcats return All-SLC selection Marcus Clark at linebacker, and he will be joined by fellow linebacker Bryan Iwuji, defensive end Ron Jackson, defensive tackle Adley Eshraghipour, cornerbacks Darryl Morris and Derek Lopez, and safeties T.P. Miller and Kenneth Hampton as starters.
In addition, all three kicking specialists return in punter Ben Follis and kickers Ryan Batchelor and Justin Garelick.
The Bobcats will have to replace seven starters on offense who include four-year starting quarterback Bradley George, three-year starting offensive tackles Calvin Gore and Alex Luna, slot receiver Mishak Rivas, running back Alvin Canady and part-time starting offensive guard Michael Schneeweis.
Texas State must also replace defensive end Travis Houston, nose tackle Garrett Hood, linebacker Joe Bell and corner back Will Thompson as defensive starters.
Texas State begins its workouts in shorts at 3:30 p.m. each day on either the Bobcats practice fields or on Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium. The practices will begin on Monday, Feb. 22 and Tuesday, Feb. 23. The Bobcats will don full pads on Thursday, Feb. 25 and Friday, Feb. 26.
The practices will resume on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during the weeks of March 1-5 and March 15-19. Texas State will hold its annual Maroon-Gold Spring Game on March 20 before concluding its final week on March 22 and 23 with a Scrimmage on Friday March 26.
