Bobcats tame the Ponies 91-86
January 5, 2010
For the Bobcat fans who have been saying all season this team has got potential, we finally got to see some of it today as the Bobcats outscored the SMU Mustangs 91-86 in Strahan Coliseum. While SMU (6-6) isn’t a great team, they aren’t horrible either. The Cats started out hot, leading 12-0 early. Senior Forward John Rybak led the team with 23 points, shooting 5-8 from 3-point range. Freshman Guard Dylan Hale was also hot, shooting 4-6 from behind the arc for 14 points. At halftime, the Cats led 45-27 and cruised in the second half to the victory over SMU.
With the win, the Bobcats remain unbeaten in Strahan Coliseum and move to 5-8 on the year. Point Guard Ryan White had a team high 7 assists today to go along with 10 points. Cameron Johnson also filled up the stat sheets with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. While the Bobcats played pretty good, they didn’t let down on what they’ve become known for: fouls. The Cats had 35 fouls overall and had 4 different players foul out of the game.
For the Cats, after a 25 point win against Texas Lutheran on December 29th and another home game against Oklahoma Panhandle State coming up on January 5th, we could be going to into conference play with a 3 game winning streak. The Bobcats open up Southland Conference play on January 9th against UT-Arlington in Arlington.
