bobcatlogoThe Texas State Softball program and head coach Ricci Woodard inked three student-athletes in the early signing period today as they all signed National Letters of Intent, joining the Bobcat family.

“We’re excited to have such a talented group coming in next year,” said Woodard. “We’ve been fortunate to bring in a lot of talent over the years and this incoming class falls nothing short of being one of the best.”

Cora Ramirez is a 5-6 outfielder/middle infielder from Round Rock, Texas and Vista Ridge HS; lettering for coach Robin Brady. She was named the 2008 Newcomer of the Year, while also earning First Team All-District honors, First Team All-Williamson County, First Team All-Centex and Vista Ridge Offensive MVP. Plays summer ball for the Round Rock Blaze Gold and coach JB Slimp. Cora Ramirez is the daughter of Cande and Becky Ramirez.

“We’ve watched Cora grow over the years and her athleticism makes her a great utility player,” added Woodard. “Cora will have the chance to be a game changer here at Texas State.”

Jordan Masek is a 5-4 shortstop/second baseman from Giddings, Texas and Giddings HS, where she lettered for coach Kristy Bradford. Masek is also a member of the Round Rock Blaze Gold club team with Cora Ramirez. She earned 2008 First Team TGCA All-State honors and was named the 2007 and 2008 District Defensive MVP. Masek is a two-time Academic All-District honoree. Jordan Masek is the daughter of Andy and Patti Masek.

“We’re excited to have a player like Jordan join the team,” said Woodard. “She can hit, she’s quick, and she can play just about any position on the field.  She’ll be an immediate impact player.”

Crystal Alaniz is a pitcher from Texas City, Texas and Texas City HS; lettering for coach Amber Maier. Alaniz was named to the 2009 All-County First Team and All-District First Team. Alaniz plays summer ball with the Sudden Impact Gold. Crystal Alaniz is the daughter of David and Glenda Alaniz.

“Crystal comes to us with a lot of arsenal on the mound,” added Woodard. “She’s a good junk ball pitcher that will add great depth to the already successful pitching staff.”
